Yeah I believe its all Roach and Pacs management. Pac is all heart and would fight anybody, I dont put the blame on him. Roach needs to stick to coaching. All this contract bull**** and fines for each pound and all that he demands are annoying. Either he believes in his guy and thinks he can beat Cotto or he doesnt. If you think its too much of a challenge then dont take the fight. If you think your guy can beat him then make it under normal and fair terms and focus on strategy and coaching and not trying to be a lawyer and promoter.
hmm says... He threatened to pull out from the fight cause of no belt? I thought he said he'll fight regardless belt or no... dude.... I think you're exaggerating and instigating. this is all pretty normal in boxing.....
Yes. I was a fan, but it is way beyond too much. I would have loved if he stayed at a lower weight and fought guys on even terms. I think he would have been very hard to beat. However, when he pseudo 'goes up in weight', it is just to make it seem like he is fighting heavier guys in heavier divisions on the normal terms there. It is just to look good on paper. In reality he is handicapping them and then if he wins he will say that he got a belt in so and so division. Pure bull**** and I am tired of it. If Pac feels they are too big for him..... then f&^%$ing stay at as lower weight! Did Haye say to Valuev lets fight for the HW title one pound over the CW limit...? No of course not. That would be ridiculous. If Haye wants to claim to be able to cop it at HW, then he has to take the chance and actually go to HW. So in short.. Yes, Pac can forget me as a fan. Too much bull**** around him.
I don't think he's DLH and I think that he needs to tone it down a bit. Hell he's just p4p #1 ... when Floyd was reigning at p4p #1 he had to take Oscar's commands. Only fighter that gets that right is Oscar ...
I won't. Pac sort of won me as fan, because of his background and being Asian in the US etc. I know he not not gettign many favors. However, in terms of the boxing I am far from impressed. Generally I am not a fan of these smaller divisions. I am 6'3" and I doubt Pac could even reach my chin if he jumped. Before and eafter the fights they disappear out of sight unless everyone else moves or the camera finds them because they look like children among the officials, press etc. Also the fights at these lower divisions look much more amateurish in their thousand punches per minute style than much more strategic battles of a Hopkins or a Hearns for example. It reminds me more of the thoughtless none-stop punching boys tend to go into whenthey first join a boxing club. Of course Pac has skill, don't get me wrong. But in general I am not a fan of these divisions. Therefore in general WW and above has always been where I think the best boxing takes place. But - if you like it and can identify with these kiddie-sized guys then keep watching it - we are all different.
Its mainly Roach, he is giving Pac haters more excuses (valid or not) than anyone else, Pac should perhaps take more control tho instead of acting like... mmmm, how can I word this, like... Freddie is the dad & Pac is the 8 year old little boy. He needs to speak up for himself, he`s the attraction, not Freddie `I think WE can knock him out` Roach. Its Roach thats getting on my sack TBH.
The reaction to this situation on this board perplexes me. I remember when Floyd fought Hatton, the prevailing opinion was that Floyd was a ***** who was picking on a smaller guy for not making the fight at a catchweight.(this despite the fac that Hatton called him out, never asked for a catchweight, and never complained about the weight before the fight) Now, two years later, we have the top JWW once again coming up to face a WW beltholder. This time, the JWW is smaller than Hatton and the WW is bigger than Floyd. You would figure that a catchweight would be more appropriate on this fight. Despite this, there is a fairly large contingency that are claiming that it's unfair that the fight is at a catchweight and that it should be at 147. If I were to have proposed a Pac/Cotto fight at 145 last year, most would say that Pac would get destroyed. It seems a lot can change in a year.
BOTTOM LINE: Moving up is unfair. It is supposed to be unfair FFS!!! That is why it is considered an eminent achievement. Catchweight tries to take something away from the bigger fighter to make it fair. However, fighters who win in 'another division' by forcing a handicap on the bigger fighter should imo. get zero or very little respect for winning such a fight. They did not believe they could prove their skill by going into a fight against a bigger fighter - and that is the whole idea behind moving up in weight to prove yourself. If they don't think they can beat the bigger guy on the terms in that division - then they are not great enough and should stay where they are just like most fighters do.
Common sense left this board years ago. Glad to see a little brought back. Don't expect too many to refute your post.
Actually, weight demands should not be made from the P4P #1. P4P means you can go from division to division and dominate. This is completely against what P4P stands for.
I think every situation is different, and in this case people see it differently. In Hatton vs Floyd, people knew that Hatton was not a fighter who could have a chance at 147 against Floyd. If Collazo who is not considered an elite boxer almost beat him then what could Floyd do or not do against him? The answer was obvious... besides, people knew also that Floyd could make 140 and fight at that weight if he wanted because Floyd is always in great shape and takes care of himself, therefore the weight was not going to be an issue for him, hence why to fight at 147 if they could have fought at 140 or a catchweight. In Pac vs Cotto people think (and that was the case before) that Cotto cannot go down in weight just like that, and thereofore he could lose the fight just by being weak at fight night. Cotto had problem making 140 and that's why he made the move to 147, and that was the right thing to do.... besides that Cotto is not a gym rat as Floyd, and chances are he gains weight easier than Floyd.... which would cause him problems when trying to lose those pounds.....hence making him weak..... I believe that PBF can still fight at the present at 140 if he wanted to, while for Cotto that possiblity not longer exist.... btw. I am neither Floyd fan nor Cotto fan.... but that's the way I perceive it.
If you're getting sick of Manny ****in' Pacquiao, I dunno... you need to follow tennis or something. We finally have the most exciting fighter at p4p 1 and people are bitching... Jesus...
