I keep thinking about what Vitali did to Kirk Johnson. I can still hear Merchant in my head saying "he just harpooned that whale!" I have a premonition that Arreola will put up a much better fight, but meet the same fate in the later rounds. Arreola doens't have the kind of sneaky fast power that would be needed to KO Vitali. IMO Sander's had one of hardest sneaky fast straight lefts I've ever seen and buzzed Vitali good with it. But Vitali has good recupperative powers as he also displayed in the Lewis fight. I think that Arreola needs to weigh 230-240 for this fight, but more solid and in shape. And starting camp 60 lbs overweight isn't going to allow him to come into the fight with the strength and stamina to fight a hard rough inside fight for a whole 12 rounds. IMO he might have well just shot himself in foot. Vitali TKO 8
Well Lewis, Sanders, Johnson, Peter all claimed to wanted to come in heavier for their fights with Vitali so they could use that weight to push him around... Worked for them didnt it?? Andrey
That is right. Against an in top shape Arreola, Vitali would have been a huge favorite. Against an not fully trained Arreola , it is a no contest.
Well, you may be right. I am sure Goossen has told Toney to keep training. I mean, Arreola has to be in the shape of his life to be ready for Vitali and even then he is too green. It would be really wise to take the injury road and let Vitali fight old veteran Toney as a replacement.Eddie will already fight Wlad. Brewster is another possibility.
The way Arreola takes care of himself is disgusting when you consider he's a PROFESSIONAL athlete. It's disgraceful that the slob can't even get himself into proper shape before the biggest fight of his life.
Arreola's strategy for the Vitali fight is "Kill or be Killed"? That's what he said in the video. If he's saying the truth he will try to come out guns blazing and fight a war of attrition against Vitali, hoping the Ukrainian is fading and aged overnight. If Arreola isn't bullshitting in the video he will get his head handed to him on a silver platter by Vitali. Even a Vitali only boxing at 75% of his prime capabilities & chin will teach a wild swinging and plodding Arreola a painful lesson.
Arreola's a sedentary fighter, the type of fighter who will find himself being potshotted by Vitali from a distance. If he weighs 297 he better do some serious training or he'll face a Kirk Johnson-like beating. Johnson, even at that horrendous weight, was stile more mobile than Arreola will ever be and Vitali cut him down with ease. If Arreola's just gonna stand there it'll be early doors.
There's a recent interview with him, where he says he walks around at 265 right now. EDIT: Here it is, at 1:15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3E9j7MEQys
It doesn't matter if Arreola was down to 235 and in great shape because he gets blown out of there inside 4 or 5 rds. He is a hyped up club fighter.
