Cotto/Pac at 145 or 147 is a great fight either way; won't make a difference

No excuses here. Of course he wants to fight Pac. But we should speak the truth here. I said that Cotto knew Pac wouldn't go for 147, that's why he proposed a fight at 145, and that is no lie. It was his call to pick 145 instead of 143 that team Pac initially wanted.

If it didn't make a difference, why so much discussion between the boxers about it?

Very simple question - answer it.

have u ever freakin boxed before in ur life? Have you ever had to make weight for anything??

That "1 pound" will be very hard to take off...Once you get your body down low in fat, such as a boxer has to do it gets very difficult to take off 1 lb....

SO YES THE 1 LB WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE..IT WILL BE A HUGE DIFFERENCE...:deal

if Pac wins he gets full credit from me ;)

That being said.... when your boiling your body down to make a certain weight... sometimes even ONE lb can make all the differance in the world, hence how someone can make weight over and over and then one fight try everything they can to make weight and its nearly impossible to shed the lbs, and every pound you go lower it becomes that much harder.

Tell guys who have tried and tried to make their weight yet still fall a couple pounds short on the scale that 'its only 2lbs'.... once youve already gotten your body to that point, 2lbs can be a lot to take from your body.

That being said, Cotto is starting early... and weighed at 146 his last fight, i dont think this will hurt him much at all, if done properly and if he rehydrates properly... all credit to pac should he win.

I agree. Time is very important when cutting, it is the grid by which everything is calculated in to. Does anyone know if Cotto uses or will be using a nutritionist/conditioning coach for this fight? It should be a no brainer... Someone needs to put a plan out for him and gauge his progress to ensure the weight is cut down properly.

I think both men are very confident of beating the other, be it at 147 or at 145... That what makes this a great fight... A guaranteed war...;)

Many Pro fighters have a set plan as far as weight and where they needa be..Time will help Cotto but at the same time I dont think he should do like Oscar did and get low much to quick cuz he'd be givin up his size advantage if he did that

Since he's been at WW, he's come in 1 pound or half pound under a few times. His last being 146. IF anyone had a reason to think Cotto looked bad or lost vs. Clottey, it wasn't because of the weight. It was because of Clottey.

The alarmist who are crying about how weak Cotto will be are just making noise...

Funny how people on the outside can say it dont make a difference yet the people on the inside are fighting harder about weight then the fighters will in the ring.

Dont fool yourself it makes a difference if no were eles but between the ears:good

145 or 147 COtto will get killed anyway so it doesnt matter i hope Team Pac realizes that, it doesnt matter what is the weight of the opponnent as long as Pac is comfortable, for example Pac is only 142 on weigh in at a 147 bout and Cotto comes in at exactly 147 Pac can still kill Cotto at that scenario. That is my theory on that, as long as Pac is comfortable in the weight he will kill people IMHO.

Cotto is always below the target weight when they check a month or so before the fight. I just don't think in this situation the one pound hurts Miguel at all. Everyone's too caught up with the catch-weight talk (Freddie Roach, that's somewhat you're fault). LOL

I personally thought all along that 145 was reasonable for this fight. If Miguel loses, we'll see comments that he was drained and such, but IF he loses, it will NOT be because of the weight!!!

I find it funny when people say one pound is nothing...Many fights have been cancelled for one pound...Get it?

AGAIN, At that weight he is already dry...did you ever wrestle in high school? Box competition?? IT IS VERY HARD TO LOSE WEIGHT ONCE UR BODY GETS RID OF THAT MUCH WATER! IM NOT SAYING COTTO WILL BE THAT AFFECTED LIKE HE WOULDA BEEN IF THIS FIGHT WAS @143 BUT 1LB WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE..

    COTTO KO PAC IN 10
