I notice that he seems to be incredibly underrated on ESB, at least in my opinion. I'm suprised people dont talk about him more as he is just what the LHW division needs because of the dirth of very good young-ish fighters in division. A lot of his fights are exciting and he can box or go to war. Also he seems like a genuinely nice guy unlike a lot in the sport. He could even drop back down and win a belt at SMW IMO, as Carl Froch (who is a underrated fighter himself) only just beat him (I had it much closer than 2/3 of the judges) considering Pascal had a torn bicep (?). I'm actually amazed to see people thinking Dirrell would beat him easily, which IMO is a joke in iself. I know people will come on talk about his performance (or lack of) against Omar Pittman, but I believe he is much better fighter now and if he and Froch were to fight again, I'd back Pascal, especially at LHW where he looks great. So I ask you all, is he simply a contender or the real deal? I believe he is the real deal.
Contender, couldn't outbox Froch. Winning a title is not impossible, but fighting for a vacant title against Froch is the best chance most fighters could hope for.
I think I had the Carl Froch-Jean Pascal fight 115-113 or 116-112 to Froch. Take into account Pascal was stupid and went into a shoot with some with a granite chin and he had a torn bicep. Pascal could box rings around Froch (who I rate), believe me.
Yeah Pascal fought the wrong fight vs Froch. He didn't box at all, he went to war with Froch.... and thats the worst thing he could do. If Pascal fight the way he fought vs Diaconu in a rematch vs Froch, I'm sure he will win it.
Let's get two things straight: He tore his biceps in his fight against Esteban Camou and was injured fighting Brian Norman and Omar Pittman. He bruised his other arm not quite as badly in the lead-up to the Froch fight but I don't think it impacted his boxing. What went wrong is that he's a bit of a bull. Try to take his head off and he'll do the same to you. He can be wild and so far his whiskers haven't let him down. The WBC named his fight with Froch the most dramatic title fight of 2008. His fight with Diaconu wasn't that bad either . This content is protected
I agree that Pascal was doing more damage but he was a spent bullet in the last few rounds.. making 168 was hard on his energy level.
pascal's a good fighter and i think he definitely has what it takes to be the real deal. i just want to see him in there with more top fighters before i can really make this decision. i foresee him being the real deal because of his toughness and heart, but his abilities im sort of questioning at the moment.
