Steward has just recently stated that he would love to train cotto for his fight against pac. Do you guys think he would be a good trainer for cotto?

Yes! Steward is an excellent thinking trainer, especially with offensive minded fighters. I think it would an excellent hook up for both.

    Bad idea.

Steward has so much on his plate, he does not have the time required to really train any fighter. Am I the only one who noticed he has not done a good job of that for a while now? Not to mention that Cotto will need to come up with a defensive strategy, not Steward's strongest area.

Cotto should get someone good who is thinking of hooking up with him long term.

He also said that he has seen ways he can help cotto box better and that he's confident that cotto could knock pac out with his help.

by the way, here's the link from the ol' scene.

i agree with this. apparently he really likes/admires cotto. it could end up being a long term relationship between the two, especially if cotto does wind up knocking pac out. i'm sure if that happened steward would stick around, but who knows? if he's not in it for the long term cotto should definitely find someone else.

hmm says. . . do it. I'ld love to see it happen. effective or not with work of the jab. Steward thinks he knows Pac's flaws and can expose him but with Cotto as his steed it should be a better matchup. I say do it. Two elite fighters and two great trainers.... Better promotion and perhaps 24/7

He said the same things about Jermain Taylor, Vivian Harris, and Kermit Cintron.

and all those guys had serious flaws. taylor has limited stamina, cintron has no heart, harris has no chin. don't compare any of those guys to cotto...

Not too sure about Steward...I'd personally like to see him hook up with a long term trainer like Nazim Richardson

Well... to have the trainer that he has now I would say yes as Stewart is a lot better... However, I don't think it will happen. It seems to me that Cotto doesn't necesarily likes to bring new people into his work environment as he doesn't like to disturb what he knows and what has work already with the exception of Evangelista in which Cotto felt it was disrupting the team and his training.

If I was Cotto I would definately interview couple of great trainers and see if one can help him get better plus work with his established team and DEFINATELY... Cotto needs and wants a long term trainer... not just for one or two fights.
