Well I think his two best performances were against Holyfield, partly because Holy chose to stand in and slug more than he needed to. WHen he boxed, it was easy work. I dont know if he almost knocked him out either. His next best was against Lou Savararese where he set a super fast paced and just outworked Lou who was a decent fighter. The Moorer win was big, but up until that point he had taken a serious shalacking and lost every round.
your right, he never almost knocked him out but there were a few instances where holyfield was slightly rocked. I'm happy that the guy was able to prove his critics wrong. people were being particularly viscious about george's comeback. I also consider his win over alex stewart to be a particularly bloody, and hard earned, victory
Yes it was. Like I said previously Foreman was mentally very tough in his comeback and was very aware that he would have to step through a lot of fire to get some wins, something that a fighter who was only in it for money could never do without getting stopped.
I dont agree, foreman had the strongest jab in the division back then. He was working extremely hard on his weaknesses, trying to be as complete a fighter possible. His major assets as a young champ was murderous power and strength. As he got older he hit the weightroom hard, actually being stronger than most of the young heavies out there. As a 48 year old man, he was good enough to beat young contenders like savarese and briggs..Yes he won that fight.. All in all, Foreman was the real deal.:deal
yet another double standard (not this thread)... FOreman fighting in the 90's AND winning tittles is not different than Evander being competitive (somewhat) right now.... i really cant understand how people claim the 90's was light years ahead that this times when a 45 years old guy won two titles back then to the world champ and was really competitive against Evander Holyfield.... i know the 90's had better talents, but dont say it was that much better
that being said, we all should respect Foreman even more for coming back AND even more impressive, WINNING the HW Championship at that stage of his career
