Would it be a fair statement...............to say that .........Iron Mike Tyson....didn't live up to his full potential? Some have said that his career was carefully played out.....choosing and.............avoiding boxers. So taking a look back at Tysons career.......what do you think? How will history remember him 30 years from now? Does he crack the top 10 ALL TIME HEAVYWEIGHT list?

Lets look at the good.....he was and still remains the youngest man to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles. Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, 12 in the first round.

    BUT

I will always wonder..................why no fights with...........Bowe, Lewis ( much earlier), Moore, Foreman ?

He was heavyweight champion of the world? He's on most people list of ATGs. He made 100's of millions of dollars. Is that not enough? Would you like him to have become governor, or get his doctorate in quantum physics? Join NASA? Iron MIke did fine. What's unfortunate is that he ended up 'relatively' broke.

As far as his skill set, no he didnt live up to his potential. Had he fought until the early 90's and beaten Bowe, Holyfield and Lewis, or even split wins with one of those fighters, he would have probably been considered #1. The unfortunate part is he was coming into his prime right when these other fighters were as well, so he had a chance to fight them all and it would have put him on a level that would be pretty hard if impossible to equal.

His stint in the slammer took away some opportunities.
He could have fought Lewis sooner, and still got beaten down.

I agree - he was still great though. If he had stayed with Rooney, I think his undefeated streak would have gone on much longer, and he would have defeated some of the greats that were around while he was in prison. After D'mato died, and he left Rooney, things started going downhill for him.

Of course he accomplished great things - I think this post is just saying if it weren't for the troubles in his life, he could have accomplished a lot more.

I wouldn't say most popular, most famous certainly, but he was hated with a passion by most.

Mikes career went how it went, it was meant to be that way.
if Mike would be more calm man outside the ring, he wouldn't be THE Mike Tyson anymore.

Robin Givens destroyed his career. Think about it man, it wasn't until he started messing with that chick that the ball started rolling downhill. Mike is still an ATG in my book so who cares.

Then he has a glass brain.

Glass brained fighters don't easily turn ATG.

Ali would have ****ed Givens and thrown her out before his early morning run.
