This is his first big test and there is everychance he will come out with some scrapes because of it. Jennings is a very decent fighter tested at world level but that's exactly what Brook requires if he has any real ambition. I don't know why all the haters are posting already, give the guy a chance. The reason that there is hype with Brook is because he's done everything he's needed to do well and with great technique. I don't understand the whole ethos of wanting a young british fighter to fail, especially one that's obviously got talent. Looking at it from another point of view if Jennings can win it could re-launch his career. If he loses though he knows that he'll have limited options and stuck at domestic level Should be a great fight.... cannae wait
I just hope he doesn't quit if things aren't going his way like stablemate Witter. When I watched Brook in Manchester for the Khan fight I was quite disappointed. He was clearly superior and he won comfortably and i was probably expecting too much but he was a bit boring and one paced. More Witter than Naz. That might be a bit harsh and I don't like saying it cos I like Brook but that's my gut feeling. I don't expect him to really engage with Jennings at any point. He'll just look to avoid and pick his punches. It may well be a very dull fight. I hope I'm wrong.
I think it would be Brook by late stoppage with Jennings putting up a spirited fight, i think Brook will go on to world level eventually. I was impressed by the Lomax performance, i dont think too many people thought that would be an early stoppage!
Agreed bodysnatcher (apart from GrovesVDegale who is possiblt the only person i've heard say he wasn't impressed
Yeah, it always annoys me how people become wise AFTER the fight. Before the Lomax fight most people were saying Brook on points or late stoppage (he then gets him out early) and before the McIntyre fight some people picked Kevin and some people said Brook in a tough fight. I dont know know one person who predicted an early stoppage in that either!
Me neither. I thought he looked very very good in the Lomax fight. I saw Lomax outside the Arena on the way to meet my missus and friends who were in a bar and had a little chat with him. his face was a complete mess !
Brook will get the timing on his jab and out point jennings until a referee stoppage after a barrage of unanswered shots
Oh dear. I knew I should have kept my mouth shut!! Let me clarify... I was impressed. It was a measured, mature, comfortable win. I just expected more. I'd been expecting him to be more exciting to watch. He only really threw the jab for the first 3 rounds. And, whilst I know a lot of people thought it'd be close, I thought Brook was going to blast him out in three rounds. Lomax is no great shakes. He doesn't really have any power, he's not that experienced a pro and I really thought Brook was going to walk all over him. In a way I suppose he did. Like I say, it was very comfortable. It just wasn't that spectacular. That's all. i think I'd built up Brook in my head a little bit too much. Here's the fight, so people can call me a fool... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwdWaZB6ikA Oh, and here's what I was hoping he'd do... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oagdq5YkuwM
One thing which will be interesting is that, this will be the first fight since winning the Britiish title, that Kell will be facing an opponent with an authodox stance. Lomax had a big height and reach advantage and an unusual and tricky southpaw action.
Brook in 6 rounds. By the way, Brook has no stamina issues for those who believe a longer fight is a disadvantage. He's in great shape.
