You realize the other bodies will create diamond belts now too right?

And since you can't have a 140 - 147 catch weight fighter fighting a 175 + catch weight fighter there'll be more than 1 diamond belt per organization too.

Why not a belt for every boxer in the world. Why not every one should be a champion? Why discriminate because of ability? I will be a champion too if I just pay for the championship fees.

Too many belts. I suggest they make a belt for every pound greater than 75. Every existing organization should be allowed to have one. Fair is fair.

 

the more these sanctioning bodies come out with **** like this, the more they lose credibility, and the more they are pushed aside. Which in the end could turn out to be good for boxing.

 

Has this ever happened before? Besides the Ring belt have they tried to come up with some other bull **** belt?

 

I think it happend to Hopkins a while before the first Taylor bout. Called him a "super" champion or some such ****. Sounds like a money grab scheme to me. The sanctioning bodies just want a piece of the pie when these catchweight megafights occur.

 

To be fair, if you were a pro boxer on that level, wouldnt you want a shiny diamond belt?
I mean comon, you can show this thing to your grand children, and it looks nice putting it somewhere on the wall.

 

The other organizations are just pissed off they didn't think about it first. They called for an emergency meeting
