trinidad. by talent, skills, resume, sheer awesomeness. the only way calzaghe wins is by the number of zeros in his statistics and the number of europeans (and jones') he faced

Calzaghe. He had more title defenses and he beat Hopkins and Jones and Tito didn't. yeah I know you will say Tito was older when he fought Jones and Hopkins was younger, but Calzaghe still won.

but you could say trinidad dominated a much better era of welters than calzaghe dominated an era of super middles

Calzaghe, look at his fight with Hops and look at Tito's fight with Hops. Also, Joe never lost, where as, every time Tito stepped up and fought a good fighter he lost (except DLH who was robbed)

true but looked when calzaghe stepped up: lacy and kessler. that's it. those wins were very good but i'm more impressed with trinidad's wins at welterweight and then his wins against reid, joppy and even mayorga. calzaghe never lost but really how could he when facing weak competition? even then he struggled MIGHTILY against guys like robin reid. i mean really struggling

Tito. I think people have forgotten just how special he was before Hopkins in 2001. He had later struggles, but he was really special.

Sorry - but that post is pure drivel. Wow...I mean, are you serious?
Off the top of my head:
    Campus
    Carr
    Whitakker
    Vargas
    Reid
    Joppy
And how many years separate Trinidad's Hopkins and Calzaghe's Hopkins?? 8? And this is a point in your argument?

people are using hopkins to compare trinidad and clazaghe but remember clazaghe was a super middleweight while trinidad came up from welterweight
