Did Icemax write this anti-McDermott article?

I wrote that piece. It’s not anti McDermott, just how I see the fight playing out. If John McDermott really got himself into shape and went into the fight with renewed confidence then things could well be a lot closer. As mentioned in that piece McDermott is a local lad to me and I would like to see him do well but I think Tyson Fury will have too much for him regardless. Fury may very well be getting a bit too much press for a seven fight novice in some peoples eyes but I like the fella and think he is going to be good for British boxing. He will draw in the casual fans if he continues to progress. I don’t really see McDermott progressing much further now unless he rededicates himself to the sport. An in shape McDermott is good enough to beat or equal any other British heavyweight out there Fury and Haye aside right now. But I don’t think I have seen him in such poor shape as he was for the two Williams fights. He looked a lot better when he fought Gammer but was a similar weight?

I agree with your sentiments, pretty much 100%.

Thanks Brawler. I’ve been writing reports and articles for this site since 2007 but this last week I have been a little more prolific. Had some great feedback via the comments too. One even from a certain chap who most of us would like to see brought back to our TV screens. I’m hoping to attend that fight and if Hennessy were promoting it I’m sure I would be accredited but I have never applied for accreditation with Frank Maloney before So I will have to wait and see.

:D I obviously didn't write that, Droog was way too kind to McFatcunt (good article BTW). The sad thing is that he has a decent engine, he must have to be able to heft 3-4 stone of excess blubber around for 12 rounds. I honestly think that if he dropped the weight he could actually make a decent Cruiser, he just seems addicted to burger and chips--whats the betting that his parents mollycoddled him as a kid and convinced him that he was just big boned :-(

There was a piece on him I think in Boxing Monthly about four months ago (perhaps more).... in it he was described as 'rotund'.

He stated that he did as much running as anybody else... and can keep up with much smaller fighters on the roads.

    Not sure I'm convinced.

He has got to fringe British title level by feasting on kebabs. I know people take the **** out of Hatton for ballooning out of camp (and rightly so) but he was always in decent nick on the scales.

My best time over the 100m was 12.28 - I was 16 and pretty much in tip top shape.

Had I trained for athletics rather than rugby I could probably have gotten down to about 11.75 or even 11.50 at a push (with wind behind and a dodgy timekeeper ;).

If he can do 13.00 and provide evidence, I will do a forfeit of the Brit forum's choice. He is 6'3'' and 18st. A mate of mine is 6'3'' and about 225 and in decent nick. Not sure he'd do it in 13.00.

Not everyone can be body beautiful, some people train constantly and are incredibly fit, yet always look podgy. Suppose someone like Frank Lampard fits into that category.

John has a lot of training to do before he looks anything like Lampard

A good article....I agree that Fury is a 7 fight Novice getting a lot of press and media, he is getting well marketed and steered in the right direction... the Heavyweight division is lacking at the moment and Fury can make it his own and progress at his own pace...

This is a fighter that Sauerland could work with............it has been mentioned about Manny Steward working with him.... is that realsitic or trade paper top spin??...:think

My sentiments are that if John McDermott wanted to get the weight off he would.... it's plain and simple he don't want to and is happy to be the weight he is....it is up to him to look back in later years and think what would a tip top John McDermott would have done??..:think
