Cotto has power and good chin . . . so the most logical approach that Roach will do is to prepare Pac is . . . to go in and out and frustrate Cotto while winning rounds. Just like in the DLH fight.

    Again I just don't see Pacquiao being flat footed in front of Cotto and exchanging . . . that's suicide . . . that's Cotto's game.

    Hahaha that got me rollin'.

Would be a stretch for Cotto to get in a lowblow easily since Pac stands smaller, but it is possible. Marquez has resorted to this a lot of times in their two fights, what you would call borderline low blows. But when Cotto does it, there are no borders within miles where it lands.

Picking Cotto for an opponent was a smart, tactical move by Roach and Co, IMO.

I think this way for a few reasons:

-Cotto is, and always has been a sucker for straight punches. Pac's straight left his as good as you'll get down the middle.

-Cotto has problems with southpaws, as shown against Corley and Torres. Pac is like a better version of Torres.

-Cotto works best when he is in his rhythm, which is a steady pace over 12 rounds. If Pac can take him out of his rhythm with in-out movement and a fast pace (which I think will happen) Cotto will be visibly uncomfortable and have trouble handling Pac's ring generalship.

Didn't read all of the thread, but Pac should definitely utilize his speed and footwork. Come in and out with the combinations. Uppercuts, straight left/left hooks, and possibly right hooks are key. Pac needs to stay off the ropes, and as someone else mentioned, do exactly what he did to DLH.

    Im with Jorodz first post.
Lots of side stepping and single shots to the face for the first half. A body shot every now and then.
If and when Cotto starts pack pedaling while covering up
I see the hook coming into play. Also maybe a right hook over a jab as he ducks under rolling out to the side.
I don't see the upper cut due to size. Plus
Roach will not want Pac on the inside.
For Cotto to dominate he will have to change his style.
He would need to be like Joe Frazier. Allot of head movement while keeping the guard up.
Attack in a flurry with short shots. Push push push.

roach needs to worry about cotto's jab which manny can't deal with then worry about the left hook which also would be easier to land on a south paw. so hook of the jab manny is in trouble

the strategy will be to make him fight every second of every round and wear him out.

Pac may use his usual in and out tactics, 'right hook, roll under' thingy, lead left move to the right. This may confuse cotto. Most probably pac will find to cut cotto's face he just got from clottey fight then use that to find a TKO victory. Pac will also have to tighten his defense also specially from the body where cotto might be thinking of going. He has to break cotto's momentum, because once cotto had his rythm, pac would be having a difficult night, or a short night indeed.....
