Interesting point, if Vitali got hit the same way he did against Sanders in the 1st round with Cooney instead, Vitali would of been out cold.
The Cooney who fought Holmes, who was focused and not on coke, was a formidable fighter. But the Klitschkos are on another level.
It would have been a good fight. Cooney more than likely would have lost, how ever don't forget Cooney had a very good hook, and would not have been giving up much reach. I'm from the Cooney time. I think the Klitchko's would win on thier jabs, but Cooney was only the Great White Hype because of King, he was actually a good solid contender of his time...who suddenly got too much money and partied, instead of trying for the other belt. You know the belt where men fought men and not prospects like Holms.
I like Cooney's left hook, but it wouldnt be enough. Cooney would be KO'd by both. Not strong enough. One dimensional. Chin ????
how can one dimensional and chin ??? be a disadvantage against the klits vk is one dimensional and wlad is chin ????
Cooney was a very good fighter, he would have a chance of knocking out Wlad but skillwise he was far inferior so chances are he would lose handily. He would give Vitali a good fight for a few rounds but would eventually wilt under the pressure, would have to win on cuts in that one. Greater than either Klit? Far from it.
I agree. He wasn't a joke it's just that Holmes had a chip on his shoulder that fight. Cooney totally destroyed poor Norton who also gave Holmes a good rumble.
Prime for prime these fights couldve went either way imo. He would have a harder fight against Vitali I think.
