2 of the greatest natural boxers ever at their peaks, untouchable at these points, I feel Muhammad Ali was a little better tho, the variety he showed in each fight from 64-67 was unbelievable, he even went to the body vs Williams & Terrell :admin.... Roy relied more on sheer athleticism, Ali was a better thinking fighter & had the best foot movement of any fighter Ive ever seen (Roy included), tho I do feel Roy has the fastest hands in history, Ali aint far off either.

Ps. Dont be suprised if conteh`s dinner appears to accuse me of `smoking Clays pole` again  :rofl... but thats OK, there`s room for everyone on ESB, even homo`s.

    Cheers :good

I always struggle to separate certain fighters at their best, Ali, Jones jr, Leonard, Duran, to name a few, I just happened to choose Ali & Roy.

    Honest :D

It doesn't really matter. There should always be a Muhammad Ali thread on the first page of the Classic forum. He's the godamn man.

    You're definitely a nuthugger and poll smoker though (-;

Muhammad Ali was better overall than Roy Jones. Jones is one of the all time greats, though.

I agree, still suprised Ali is leading 8-1 tho, thought it might be tighter.

Well, Ali fought better competition and proved himself.

Roy was amazing and had some good wins but he didnt prove himself the way Ali did.

True, I also thought Ali had better ring generalship than Roy too at their best, in fact better ring generalship, period.

60's Ali would eat 90's RJ in less than 6 rounds.

Ring generalship is too broad a term. I will break down some crucial categories.

Body punching-no contest. Roy Jones, perhaps the greatest body puncher ever to the no body punching Ali.

    Left jab-Ali
    Left hook-Jones
    Right lead-Jones
    Footwork and defense-Jones
    Chin-Ali
    dominance-Jones
    handspeed-Jones

Jones would never allow himself to be hit the way Ali did. Rope a dope is not smart if you ask me.

I will go with Jones whom I rank over Ali in p4p ratings
