:thumbsup If he was really as affected as much as people like Atlas said he was he would have totally went to pieces mentally and lost all discipline in his work but instead he worked on a new gameplan and did enough to beat a very tough opponent.
I thought Cotto showed heart and in fact, his advantage in mental toughness (and stamina) was a huge factor in the close win over Clottey. It is possible though that Cotto might be on the downside from wear-and-tear. Margarito is not the only tough fight he's been in. Torres, Mosley, Clottey, even Judah were all pretty physically demanding fights.
Whoa relax...ever heard of comic relief. It seems your much more than just a fan of the pacman. It was a joke don't take it personal.
He's not talking ****, that's the truth. I'm surprised ANYONE is questioning what Teddy is saying there. Cotto WAS breaking down and I did mention that in my prediction and also mentioned that Clottey, who has **** poor stamina, will put Cotto in situations where it looks like he will take him but won't bite due to stamina issues and that's EXACTLY what happened. As the fight kept going Cotto kept looking worse and worse, Clottey just took no advantage of MANY bad situations Cotto was in. Teddy is telling it like it is there.
Listen, cut or not, Cotto had every opportunity to finish off Clottey. Clottey is tough and has some pop but he's never been a skilled boxer. Atlas is right whether you like it or not
I remember that, Teddy and Brian argueing was funny as hell. "I have a radio show Teddy, I have a radio show" or something like that...
Good anaylsis by Atlas and Hopkins. They've both been involved with the sport for a long time and are very knowledgeable.
I normally like to hear what Teddy Atlas has to say, but he was talking rubbish there. Cotto doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves against Clottey. Manny Steward got it bang on with his comments the other day. Clottey is one awkward son of a gun, he'll be a problem for any welterweight in the world, with or without a nasty gash on the eye.
Clottey has good skills. Tight defense, nice combination punching, good countering. Not much of a puncher, or finisher though. Clottey's skills is what makes him a contender at 147. It sure isn't his huge power or amazing mental fortitude.
ATLAS is a joke. I cant wait for Wlad to KO Povetkin and stop Atlas in his training comeback. The guy needs to respect fighters and what they do. I understand he likes some guys more then others, but when he talks he RIPS into the fighters with such disrespect and I hate it. Im glad Rogers shot back at Atlas. Cant stand the guy Hey Teddy, remember this. Without boxers, you are out of a job. show some respect
