I was just flipping through channels and came across that show called Whacked Out Sports, and one of the segments was about a press conference brawl between the two fighters. They never mentioned the names of the boxers, but they looked exactly like Sultan Ibragimov and Lance Whitaker. My question is did Iggy and Lance have a press conference brawl before their fight, or was I just imagining things, because I don't remember hearing about a brawl at the time. It was interesting, the fighters were posing for pics and then the Iggy-looking fighter kinda pushed his fist in the Whitaker-looking fighter's face and then fireworks. They both went at each other and traded a few blows. And it looked like Iggy's manager got ktfo. True, or am I losing it?

The Press Conference for the Sultan Ibramigov and Lance Whitaker fight resulted in a real knockout.

The fighters started a melee shortly after being call to the podium for photos. Lance Whitaker ended up with a black eye and Sampson, Ibramigov's advisor/manager was knocked out cold apparently by both fighters when he got caught in the crossfire. Sampson was completely out and had to be rushed to the hospital.

If the melee was staged, the final outcome was far different from the origianl script. The melee was the worst one I have seen (live or on TV).

Yes, I remember seeing the pics for the fight a long time ago, and I was thankful for the video.

Ibragimov put his hand against Whitaker's chin for the photo a little too hard and Whitaker responded, so it went on from there. It was a good build up for the fight. The fight itself was entertaining too, when Sultan just came out in the first round and went right after Witaker , there were fireworks!

Your eyes were not mistaken. You did see Ibragimov and Whitaker. I'm not gonna say that the fight was won right then and there but only one guy showed up on the actual night of the fight and that was Sultan. I can still picture the serious bodywork he did on Lance that night.

Sultan is a tough fighter. Too bad that the only thing that people remember about him is how bad he looked against Klitschko. He clocked Mount Whitaker at the press conference and then again at the fight. That was when I knew he was pretty good. At his best he might be the third best heavyweight in the world behind the two Klitschko brothers. I would put him on Haye, Arreola, and Chambers all day.
