I think a win over Cotto,Mayweather and Mosley puts him in the top 10. If he fought and beat Bradley and Marquez too i dont see why he isnt in for a shout, that would be an outstanding resume.
he must erase his loss to el terible in a time machine, then win at least 90 fights in a row like julio cesar Chavez, stop pretending like mosley isn't calling him out, & then he'll be atg #1 for sure.
Your shittin me, right ? If he does all that, he`s EASILY top 10.... but he wont, that is pretty much guaranteed.
P4P ATG No1? That's too much to dream off . . . just hope he wins his next fight. You should proud and happy if he wins his 7th divisional title.
It almost seems impossible for Pac to be ATG top 5 because the standard is so much higher for modern day fighters which is strange because the overall quality is so much higher these day. It is like all the old school fighters get a little over hyped. I know some of those guys fought an insane amount of fights in some cases over a 100 wins in 15 rounders (slug fest) but boxing so much more technical today.
I consider the top boxers ever to have fought and won 100+ times like Robinson, Armstrong, Pep except the heavyweight division which is a shorter career. Since todays boxers retire around the 40-50 fight mark they cant compete with the old-timers in that catogery. So for Pacquiao to get anywhere near the top ten hes got to win as many belts in various divisions as possible. Still its not gonna be easy, hes got to get past Cotto and Mayweather yet which arent givens. But he'll never be no.1 cos he'll never be as good as Robinson or Ali no matter what he does from now.
I agree, but you dont discredit his wins just because he was a kid. A lot of fighters get titles in a division which they dont "naturally" belong to either, its just that most of them accomplish this moving up. Being a kid and winning titles in those divisions while fighting much older and mature men is extra ordinary.
Thats flawed. you're right about the number of fights are much lower now compared to the olden days. But i dont see where you can base an argument such as one can never be as good as the others no matter what he does, because there are some aspects of the sport where Pac has done better, like climbing up multiple weight divisions.
Retiring after 2 more fights won't do it. Aside from his already great resume, he has to lengthen his career by fighting til he's in his early 40s, beat most if not all the greats along the way and climb up a few more weight divisions (Duran beating Barkley at age 37for middleweight belt comes to mind). The top ATGs all had lengthy careers.
