I possibly didn't think the Barrera thing through when I said it. But Ken Buchanan is generally considered top 100 atg and bbc even ranked him Britain's best ever post war boxer.

Laguna is a HofF'er (any of Joes live opponents ever going to make the hall?) and is 10x>>>>>>>>than anything Calzaghe ever faced. Remember Buchanan fought Ismael both times in hostile territory, something Joe didn't do until right at the end of his career.

I'm not a huge Buchanon fan to be honest. There's a fair amount of footage and I don't really get that excited by his abilities. Lennox is number one for me. I'm not great with guys from the turn of the century for obvious reasons but Lennox ticked all the boxes and beat everyone. Avoided no-one. I'd prob put Hamed above Calzaghe as well- modern day. Had Hatton beaten Manny or Floyd he would have been above him too but I concede I would put Calzaghe over Hatton at the moment. For me Calzaghe sits amongst Eubank, Benn and Collins. I think he should count his lucky stars the way he was managed because I think all three were superior to him.

Agree with Buchanan and lennox, Hamed was awesome and could've been a great but fluffed it up. Disagree with the rest.

For his weightclass he's an ATG, no question.
On the world scene though he's prob just inside the top 100.

For his weightclass, I would have him top, just ahead of Benn, Eubank, Ottke etc.

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Benn
    3. Eubank
    4. Ottke
    5. Collins

Then again, the division isn't exactly talent packed is it?

Also, I would just about have him in the top 100 as well :good

Calzaghe IMO should be ranked anywhere from 90-125........his ranking is sinking faster then the titanic though, especially depending on what kessler does....

Agree entirely. That's exatcly where I think he would be my list, of which I am up to about 36 (constantly changing, I don't think you can ever make a 'definitive' list you are happy with) but I have ideas of how my brackets will go.

    Calzaghe is around that bracket.
