vs Gatti - Both were too small for either man...Larios though had a trilogy with vasquez and KO Vasquez at that. Gatti had a trilogy with Ward. Advantage Pac.

I think Ulis first post in this thread is a good breakdown, and caneman made a decent responce.....

Right now, i think i place Hoya slightly ahead.... but its close, if Pac gets a couple more big wins, ill probably rank him ahead, but as of right now damn im not sure.... good thread.

as a pac fan and also a dlh fan, there are pro's and cons.

when dlh won against jcc, the guywas what 34 and 36 years old.
    whitaker, clearly past prime also.

in terms of level of opposition, dlh has one of the greatest resumes, unfortunately he lost most of them.

    bhop. tito, mosley 2x. pbf,

pac is better right now than he is 3 years ago and morales is of the same age as pac right now when pac fought him..

so please stop those excuses like saying he is past prime.. morales wouldnt retire same as barrera if they think they can win against pac if they were in their primes

Nallege has every right to put Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0) above Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2). Floyd obviously has the better record. So please don't insult Nallege by saying he has no IQ. But based on his statements above, it is only reasonable to conclude that:

Not really. Chavez was champ, Hoya was contendor. Chavez was also younger than Hoya was when Hoya fought Mayweather.
Whitaker was p4p#1 at the time and highest rated welterweight. Hoya was going up a division to face him at his first welterweight fight. Whitaker was seriously THE most difficult opponent Hoya could have possibly chosen at his first welterweight fight. Don't let the Whitaker fans get into your head.

Not to mention Hoya beat Tito and Mosley the second time. We all know this.

i saw the dlh-tito fight and i swear to god that dlh won. but the judges saw otherwise and I am not going to cry over it in the same manner that people thought he lost to sturm.

dlh was still adjudged as the loser to mosley the second time around and this is more of a toss up for me if i remember it right.

jcc vs dlh??? come on eliqueros. i saw both fights and jcc was clearly past it. he was cut with jab by dlh.

he was bloodied in both fights and was clearly the smaller at the same time older man. JCC is a great champion but to insist that JCC was still the man at 34 and 36 years old when he fought dlh clearly is not acceptable to me.

too many ring wars, wear and tear.

Pea was not at his peak, but he was the man to beat.

Read post #182 from top to bottom, somewhere in there I explain why Pean was a better win than Morales.

When Pac fought Barrera, Barrera had been fighting pro 14 years the first time and 18 years the second time.

When DLH fought Whitaker and JCC, they had both been fighting pro 12.5 years.

Also, neither Whitaker or Chavez had suffer an ass kicking ala Barrera or Morales.

Infact Whitaker should have technically been undefeated. Chavez should have had two losses, neither in which he suffered an ass kicking like Barrera and Morales. Infact, by the time that Pac was able to beat Morales, Morales had lost twice to Barrera in gruesome fights, and had gotten humiliated by Zahir Raheem. Morales last hurrah was the Pac fight, he never won again, and had lost two immediate fights prior to Pac beating him.

Scattered Brain, as you familiarize yourself with boxing more, one thing you will learn about age in boxing is that it is not always an accurate indicator being prime.

    JMM
    Hopkins
    Mosley
    Vitali

all those guys were prime in their mid thirties.

    Vargas
    Morales
    Judah
    Taylor

Those guys were past their prime by or before the age of 30.

Sure you can say that, but the fighters he beat alone surpass what Pac did...Read post #182.

As for his losses, they came when he wasn't in his prime. 99% of the greatest fighters lost when they weren't in their prime anymore. Again, once you get more familiarized with boxing, you'll see that many great fighters lost at thetwilight of their careers.

DLH lost to two prime elite fighters in his prime, Mosley and Trinidad.

Pac lost to two journey men in the beggining of his career, by KO, and lost to a past prime shot Morales in his prime.

Had Pac had the opportunity to have been fighting with fighters with the skill of Hopkins, prime Mosley, Trinidad, Chavez, Whitaker, he'd probably have a couple or more losses on his resume, especially if he challenged himself towards the end of his career.

So if you are going to bring up DLH's losses when DLH wasn't as hungry, and wasn't tip top physically or mentally, then the same needs to be done with Pac and his embarrassing losses to journey men.
