First, you can't guarantee anything. Hearns once lost a fight because he sprained his freaking ankle! It's boxing Ray! Anything can happen.

Second, Paul's "reach advantage" isn't as important as you and others make it sound. PW has an enormous wingspan, but his actual arm length advantage is 1 inch. This is the first time Paul ever fought someone who is as tall as he is, and comes near his arm length. This is not the first time Pav faced an opponent with longer arms.

Third, this whole work rate thing has been blown completely out of proportion. Pavlik threw 97 punches in the 1st round of the Miranda fight while Miranda threw 94 back at him. Miranda at 160 had decent hand speed and hit like a truck. PWilly has NEVER been that deep in the trenches. Williams will not throw anywhere near 100 runches per round against Pavlik. If he tries, he won't last 5 rounds.

Fouth, this bit about PW beating Pav by fighting inside is preposterous. Pavlik will not let Williams fight inside. If Paul tries to come inside Pavlik will maul and manhandle him like a pit bull with a rag doll. I'm not talking about Pavlik beating Williams on the inside by boxing him there. I'm talking about Williams getting MAULED by the bigger stronger man.

The best thing Williams can do is fight off the back foot. Run and pot shot, blister and move, keep his ****ing hands up for once in his life, and stay off the ropes NO MATTER WHAT. With that sort of strategy he has a chance. If he just comes out and acts like Paul Wiliams, he'll get knocked out before the mid rounds are over.

 

People forget that pavlik can box. In the first JT fight he was boxing effectively from the third round on
