He was very, very good back in the day. But became more hype then form over time. He's one of the best figters i've ever trained with in the gym. Talent wise he was amazing and should have done very well.
He started with Highland & Vaughn promotions from Liverpool and was promising all kind of things , until he got Ko'd.. Then his confidence dropped .. His loss to Harrison was the top hat on things, then he lost to cruiserweight Tony Moran, Maccarinelli, Tyson Fury, Tony Bellew and Lance is gonna just take to him like a hot knife through butter.... Lance is a small drop down from Top line boxing and Matt has no business up in that class.. In fact to get this fight Matthew must have sent them a tape from about 1997..
Atleast it'll be a decent payday for him, seems thats all that matters now. Needs to be careful taking all these beatings though.
yep, at the level he's fighting at he's in danger of dropping out of the "opponent" and into the "punchbag" category.
He had a decent fight last time out I heard. Hopefully he gets his career back on track because he should still be able to offer more than getting bounced out by the level of opposition he has been doing recently.
