Bowe had just beaten Evander Holyfield for the third time in a match that was supposed to establish unofficial rights as the greatest heavyweight in the world, reglardless of the fact that neither man was holding a governing belt. If I were to guess, it may have been a ring title or some unofficial belt..
Could be the early WBO design you know...Judging from the issue of the mag that may be right because Bowe held that title in late 95.

Dont know mate..they were just listed as "custom" ones..whatever that means. The reason I thought it was an early design of it was because I had seen this photo before and assumed it was the design they brought out back in the early 90's , it sort of burnt into my head..but its described as "custom", so I think I was wrong there.
In their Oct 9th, 1995 issue, Sports Illustrated indicates that the fight was going to be fought for the 'Daily News Belt' and a lot of the other sources from that time indicate the same. Was to be a belt signifying who was the 'People's Champion' and whatnot.
