regardless of wether he was legit or not as revealed in his 24/7 segments prior to the Jones bout. Calzaghe showed he posseses the personality of a box of canned Squid. He came off as a bit of a dick.

The Clowning during the Jones bout was in terrible taste, sure had that been a prime Jones then yes I would have been awe struck! but done against this shell of a down and out has been.......it just made me cringe.

I agree, I was a big fan of Calzaghe before that fight but when it came out he was fighting Roy after what he had said in his autobiography I was like :huh. Then what he went on to do in the ring was very distasteful, I lost alot of respect for him after that.

Like it or not, a lot of people think RJJ had it coming after taking the **** out of fighters in his pomp. That said, I don't really have a problem with show boating- it's part of the game:good. JC would never have done it to a prime RJJ, though. I personally lost a little bit of respect for JC in taking the fight, TBH.

Thats another story but I would agree there as well. Doesnt mean Calzaghe has to do the same thing though.

  8. Think about it this way - Joe and Roy were friends/mates.

Who doesn't clown around with friends - especially when you can kick their ass (even if roy was past prime).

I'm sure Roy will showboat somewhat tomorrow, yet no one will go ape at him doing it to a shot Lacy.

that Calzaghe was a ****ing ****! regardless of what skills he may or may not have had and didnt posses the personality or Charm to transcend the Sport and take himself and this great Sport we love to the very heights of greatness.

I never really thought of the Jones fight as a serious fight for Calzaghe, I always just thought of it as a big pay-day and chance to look good before he retired. Kessler and Hopkins were as good opponents as he could have got in his two fights before that. I didn't really think his showboating was disrespectful, just part of the show.

Based on what? when has he ever looked scared in a fight? Calzaghe could come out of retirement and box rings around Pavlik, totally different class.

:-( He's beaten better than both of them, I doubt it.

On subject I do think it was in poor taste, all I can think is that he was making the point along the lines of - look at your hero, the guys no threat - even though I disagree. I must admit when he was sticking his chin out I was very surprised Roy didn't open up on him more.
