This guy is THE REAL DEAL no doubt about it in my eyes.

I believe Jeff Fenech also challenged in 7 or 8 fights for a legitimate title.

Pete Rademacher challenged for the heavyweight title in his pro debut. Veeraphol Sahaprom won a title in his fourth pro bout. But Rademacher was an Olympic gold medalist (who wasn't even close to being ready, and they were basically just capitalizing on his name from his Olympic gold medal), and Sahaprom was already a champion in Muay Thai, so they're not completely analogous. I'm pretty sure there was another Thai who won a belt in his second pro bout (under similar circumstances), but I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

    CAMPILLO, SHUMENOV MADE WEIGHT!

    This content is protected

Both WBA LHW champ Gabriel Campillo and challenger Beibut Shumenov made weight in Astana, Kazakhstan. Both look ripped and ready.

    Campillo 174,8
    Shumenov 174

fighting in kazakhstan doesnt bother me. with tv and internet we know about fighters that we would have no ability to know about before. a reason why Madison Square Garden,Bethnal Green, the Spectrum. became boxing hotspots was becuase back in the day you would go to these places to see world class boxing.

now we could have a world championship at the north pole and still sell 1 million via PPV.

this is why i dont believe in the "you have to fight in america" belief. there are tough and soft areas in every fight circle, but shumenov is fighting top 30 operators.

i just find it hard to believe that he wouldnt broadcast this internationally?

look at the officials for the fight:

WBA Officials: Supervisor – Guy Jutras (Canada); Referee – Steve Smoger (United States); Judges – Glenn Feldman (United States), John Coyle (United Kingdom) and Pasquale Procopio (Canada).

No Kazakh officials, so if Shumenov wins a UD there should not be any hometown decision BS

Props to Campillo for taking this fight so quickly after winning the title. He's barely had time to enjoy it and he's taking on the rising star of the division.

It will be syndicated, just not shown live. I know SNY, for example, will be carrying it in a week or two.

Maybe he enjoys the paycheck a bit more. I'm sure Universum underpaid him in the Garay fight, here at least he should get a nice payment, and you know, impressive 8 fights or not, it's still a new territory and a hell lot of pressure on Shumenov.

Campillo is no joke either, he's a tough guy, maybe tougher than Shumenov.

    Early Results:

Up-and-coming Uzbek light heavyweight prospect Gayrat “Gerry” Akhmedov is now 12-0-1, with 8 KOs, following the second-round destruction of Kenyan import Douglas Otieno (19-3, 9 KOs). Rapidly rising Akhmedov acquired the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council light heavyweight title and an interim version of the PABA 175lb belt after this win.
    —–
Former WBO light welterweight champion DeMarcus Corley scored his second consecutive stoppage victory with the eighth-round TKO over Kenyan James Kimori (11-2, 7 KOs). Corley, who is now 35-11-1, with 21 KOs, koncked out his penultimate opponent Sidney Siqueira also in the eighth and also in Kazakhstan. Kimori was stopped for the first time in his career in his first ever bout outside of Africa.
    ——
25-year old light middleweight Ravshan Hudaynazarov (9-0, 7 KOs) of Andijan, Uzbekistan, made a brilliant display of his talent with the thunderous first-round annihilation of Kenyan veteran Joseph Miyumo (30-8-5, 17 KOs).

They really just picking apart these poor Kenyans

    Campillo is done
