I read on these forums that the Cotto vs Pac PPV will sell less than the Pac vs Hatton PPV! how is this possible?
The reason for this supposedly is, that Hatton has the greater popularity? how is this possible? Cotto is better, has a more exciting style, every Cotto fight is thrilling ,,,Hattons fights are hugfests. I cant belive it....is it because of the greater number of Brits? or is it the right Complexion, one that Joe 6 pack can relate to.

let me tell you Cotto should be a bigger draw in every way. So it has to be one of two things 1-Hattons English supporters outnumber Cottos latin supporters 2- or Hatton has the right complexion and Joe six pack can relate to him and wants him to win thus gaining him better PPV numbers. There is a possible third reason and thats the average fan is a moron. I will now lean toward reason #3

To answer your question, one Hatton has the personality to draw fans where as Cotto is pretty mild mannered and quiet, and two, like you said, Hatton had all of UK behind him.

I think he probably is just as popular, it just depends on the source, I doubt that it's because he's white, most of us are Joe six packs and if you took a poll I think cotto would win in popularity by quite a bit. and it definately isn't because his clench and elbow style!

honestly? it's personality. People can relate to him (i'm not thinking the vaguely racist way you seem to imply) but because he's one of the boys. In all fairness, he's a guy i'd expect to see at the pub every saturday and one you could have a chat with. People like the guy and want to see him win. it's not about fighting style, as most won't argue that he's not nearly as exciting as cotto, but about who he is outside the ring. almost a little like a barry mcguigan, you want to root for him

IMO, his antics outside the ring makes his name more recognizable worldwide than Cotto. His drinking, partying, big weight fluctuations all makes for a good news tidbit.

what dumbass question. i mean seriously.. 'popularity' has nothing to do with a fighters overall 'ability'.. its actually quite pathetic reading the TS' reasoning to justify 'why' haha. common sense dickhead!

that's a good point, i mean oscar didn't make the sales because he's a nice guy, etc. there was something about him...maybe the female fan base? either way, it IS odd that a much, much more competitive fight will fall far short. it's not like anybody bought it expecting a pac masterclass and though a LOT of people thought he'd win, they didn't expect it to be that easy. nor did a lot of people think it would be ultra competitive; hatton would do ok but fall in the end. cotto-pac is more of a 50/50 fight. so other than hattons fans...i can't say why there's gonna be a big difference (and there will be a big difference) in sales. **** i know we're gonna buy it but maybe casual fan doesn't know cotto when they knew hatton?
