I think he was a good fighter...nothing tremendously exciting, but he was effecient as hell. As a Heavyweight, I'd put him below the likes of Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, and Joe Frazier. But above Tyson.

Lewis was very good. "ATG" is a subjective term. Some interpret that as a more select group than others do. I think Lewis is being way overrated when people say he's top 3 or top 5 heavyweight of all time or that he's in a higher league than Holyfield. But I have got used to it on this site.

Claiming that Tyson was anything other than washed-up to absurdity by the time he fought Lewis is, frankly, absurd. The guy had none of his speed, movement, pace or heart of his prime. Lewis was over the hill as well, but Tyson had nothing left. He even admits that he had long since been fighting purely for money.
I don't know where this stuff about Lennox being a H2H nightmare comes from. Let's face it: a prime Tyson, Liston or Frazier would have got inside on him and busted him up. Louis or Foreman would have forced him to trade and blown him away. Ali would have lopsidedly outboxed him. He's for sure an ATG, but saying he was the greatest H2H HW of All-time is way over the top.

And looked horrible doing so. Tyson was in no physical shape to beat Lewis. He was fighting for money. If that's Lewis best win, then it doesn't say much.
1. Tyson was past prime, he was still a massive puncher, he was still Tyson just a very much past prime fighter, still a big danger to Lewis who was old and maybe more susceptable to being ko'ed at this stage 2. Yes only 3years older and yes he had ring wars but Lewis had a few of his own, Holyfield was still damn good for a 37yo 3. I dont think Lewis has as many flaws pre-Steward as you bring up, and I dont think he lost that many rounds against Bruno, who was a quality opponent in his own right. Lewis was tactically better and more rounded with Steward but to pretend he wasnt top draw prior to that is foolish
It was his most important win, and the defining fight of career. At least that's how it will be remembered. I think Lewis is a very good fighter, but I don't like how he says he "proved who the better man was by beating Tyson." He didn't beat Tyson, he beat a shadow of a man called Tyson. That's something that's always going to hang over his shoulder, because in most peoples eyes, Tyson will always be the greater fighter. Lewis will be remembered as the guy who ruled after Tyson went south, that's about it.
