Roy Jones VS Manny Paquiao

I'd say it's a tie. Great wins for RJJ and Pac, even if both fights looked like absolute freakshows.

 

Jones vs ruiz beats pac vs oscar...rjj was outweighed by 40lbs approx...oscar was also old and ate too much kangaroo meat to make the weight..his whole training regime was based on making the 147lb limit...

 

**** off. Ruiz was and still is ****. an old Oscar had way more to offer than Ruiz at any point in his career.

Oscar was way better than Ruiz... but Ruiz was his normal self & Oscar wasnt, I dont know.

Id say Jones over Ruiz, the size difference was way more.

 

No matter how boring, Ruiz was a pretty good fighter with a respectable career. Oscar got black eyes and got punched over 150 times by Stevie Forbes prior to the Pac fight. Didn't look like he had much left to offer then, which was evident in the Pacquiao fight. Of course Pac's level played a big role in that, still what you said is an overstatement. I just think it's wrong to downplay RJJ's win over Ruiz just because Ruiz isn't an ATG.

 

Weight difference wasn't the real factor in these fights. Ruiz could've had a 100 lb. advantage and still would've lost. Jones was a 2-1 favorite.

De La Hoya was a slight favorite against Pac at 165-135. And Oscar is an ATG and future HOFer.

Now that I realize all that, I now say Pac's victory was more impressive. I said it was a tie because I'm a big Roy Jones fan and he made that fight entertaining by adding all those dances and taunts on Ruiz. The man likes to clown around.

 

RJJ's win was much better. People act like Pacquiao is just some tiny man and he's knocking people out so that makes him more than what he is. Yea he went up from 105 to 147 that's great, but the dude was a teenager when he fought at 105, 110 whatever it is. Of course he's going to be that small. All he has done is finally grew and developed into a man.

 

Even if you discount Pac at fly and consider he started at super bantam that's still super impressive.

Heck, you could use the same argument and say that all Jones did was move from light heavy to heavy and grew out of middle.

 

In that case, you say what he's done is normal and nothing special, you know 6 champs in 6 weight divisions, 4 lineal champs. Give me a list of boxers who've the done the same or something close and we'll then judge how ordinary Pacquiao really is.

 

If Roy 'Capt.Hook' Jones Jr. fought the real Capt. Hook, who would win?

I mean the cartoon Capt. Hook come to life and stuff.

Or Jeff Lacy against another Jeff Lacy, but he was called 'Right Hook' - maybe that one would be a draw?

 

I'm not taking anything away from Pacquiao it's very impressive, but I get tired of people making him out to be some tiny little dude who knocks out people that are much much bigger than him which isn't the case.
