Somebody pissed in Teddy's wheaties this morning. Wilder did his thing with an opponent like that, which is just overpower him. Now, I know part of that was his opponent; but for the time he was there, that was about the most coordinated and sharp I've seen Deontay look. For a man his size I'm really impressed with his handspeed, and you can see physically he's a beast. I just wish instead of leaning forward by bending his back he'd put a bit of bend in his knees to get a little bit lower and more athletic, it would help his fluidity and not make him an easier target for an uppercut.

It's 6 fights man, give him a break. The guy has hardly any experience, he needs a dozen fights against these guys just to get used to fighting. It's not like he's been a pro for 5 years and is still fighting tomato cans, he's been a pro for less than a year!

After another 4-5 guys like this I'm sure they'll step up in class against some guys who can test him a little and show him some things, not a point in rushing him at all.

Look. They are bringing Deontay along the right way so far. What you do with young inexperienced but talented fighters is you try and introduce them to as many different styles as possible. They are supposed to fight soft opposition at first and not solid contenders or they will lose. I know we are all anxious for a young exciting dedicated HW and we want Deontay to get up there as quick as possible. But that's not the right way, it will be 2-4 years before he gets his shot at the title.

Yet they should find an opponent better then that.

As someone said earlier in the thread, they tried for a better opponent. Both of the two higher grade journeymen got nixed for various reasons. So Deontay took care of what was put in front of him. I wouldn't criticize Deontay for doing what you want to see a fighter do when he has someone like that in front of him-take him out, fast.

The thing is I'm not even asking for him to fight guys that will test him, just fight guys that might be able to go 3/4 rounds. Guys that can take a bit of a punch and maybe spoil a bit, I didn't mention that these guys had to have much offensive ability.

But it seems most people here seem to think it's best he only gets less than 150 seconds in the ring each time he goes out, so what do I know.............

For his first HALF DOZEN fights, yes. And anyway, Wilder was going after exactly the type of fighters you described in the first paragraph and couldn't get them.

Exactly, either fighters flat out don't want to fight him or the netwroks don't pick it up.

Last guy he KTFO on ESPN2 went the 4-round distance with Tor Hamer, didn't he? There was no reason to think he couldn't give Wilder a decent round or three, but he got hit with a rock and that's the way it goes.

The guys they originally wanted for Deontay would have been better. They had to call in a short notice hobby boxer and Deontay took care of his business.

They need to step him up, though. This stuff does even the most raw of fighters no good at all.

A 2 minute knockout is not practice, and did Wilder's career no good. Im sure they'll look for an opponent who will offer something next.

He's supposed to fight in Cincinnati (postponed from June) next, and probably have his home debut after that.

I'm told they're looking at a southpaw with more than 20 fights and a winning record for his hometown fight if everything falls into place.

He is in the first year of his profresional career and has little amature experance. He is suposed to be fighting tomato cans at this stage in his career. Give him time to devlope.

Wilder came a long way in a very short period of time. I think his management is doing right by him by not rushing him and letting him develop his confidence and skills. They will know when it's time to test him and step it up.

He will make lots of money fighting winos from the local alley. He should have a fight with Tyson Fury next.
