Very difficult fight for both. Ross is such a good all-rounder that if he got his tactics spot on he could definitely beat Duran. It wouldn't happen often enough for me to make that pick here though. Duran in one of those fights that seem closer than they actually appear on the cards, with Duran outfighting Ross in key rounds.

Ross would do very well at times, such a class technician, he would fire back scoring combos when met with Duran's fury, but i just see Duran winning it every time on song to be honest. Accumulated momentum as funny as it sounds, would be key, and he'd be handing out a beating in some rounds towards the end. On the inside we'd be treated to some great techinque for the eyes, by both men, and some nice defensive moves by the man i'm picking to win. Duran.

The more supremely skilled and talented fighter comes out on top in this one. I just can't see Ross doing what it takes to win the majority of the rounds against Duran.

Picture Buchanan-Duran 1, only with a higher level operator in for Ken. I like Ross to tame the beast by close UD; his legendary durability would be the difference for me because he'd have to absorb a beating to get there.

Duran would be well suited to work his more swarming style here.

Hed swarm Ross like Buchanan and Ross would fair abit better but not much but the rounds would be more competitve as Ross would try to move more.

Dont know why people claim this would be a repeat of the Buchanan fight???

Ross is a level or so above Buchanan, I think Ross on his game plan, would follow the SRL type of bout in the rematch.

I see it more as a Duran SRL match with SRL with the right game plan, than a Buchanan fight imo.

    I like Ross on points.

Stylistically though I definitely see more of Ken in Ross then SRL.

Barney certainly has size and footspeed more on Buchanan's level ..Both he and Ken had excellent jabs but neither were quite the lightning quick combo puncher that Leonard could be.
I do think Barney is a level above Ken but stylistically and physically I think they are more comparable then Barney is with Ray.

Also I feel the young, hungry lightweight version of Duran was more adept to dealing with boxer types as he was more of an uninhibited swarmer.

Duran gets this for me..but its close fo sho. I think in all honesty Ross would probably be able to take the first fight if they were fighting a series, with Roberto being able the turn the tide in subsequent bouts.
But because its all being boiled down into one fight I reckon Duran just has to much for Barney who despite his excellent overall ability and skillset I think his lack of power would hurt his chances of dictating this fight against an animal like Roberto.

Although I like Ross, I fear this may be basically a replay of his fight with Armstrong.

Ross is unable to find a way to stall Duran or get his respect, and Duran swarms his way to a points decision.

Ross pretty much lost his foot and hand speed by the time the Armstrong bout came, he was quicker in the McLarin and Canzi fights than he was vs Armstrong.

I think Ross was a step or 2 above Ken in the speed department. Perhaps a little slower tha SRL, but not by much, It was Ross's speed, jab, and combos when he decides to thown it that help him out point the bigger foes in McLarin.
