I know that the Olympics has an age limit of 17-34, not that I would have any real chance at them. At my age what kind of comptition can I expect to get into from begaining to the most advanced?

If you're in the US, it's the Master's Division. At your age it would still be fairly competitive, just different rules.

16oz gloves instead of the 10 or 12oz competition gloves, and a more thorough medical is required, particularly as you get older.

Move to another country!!! just kidding. I´m 35 and living in Brazil and the ametuers cut-off age is 34 here. I fight unsanctioned tournements now. I don´t have any dreams of being pro: I just wanna fight and not just spar so this is my only option now. It gets tougher for us at this age my friend.

Judging from all of the posts all amateurs seem to cut off at 34. Being that Boxing is an International sport it makes sense.

Take a look at the Masters. Looks like that is the way to go for a "late bloomer".
