Holmes is 1 of the greatest HWs of all time, he would go on to give Holyfield a decent dual, I thought he was 37 for that fight though? Thomas was 1 of the top prospects of the era, avoided by Holmes, wonderful jabber Berbick was a decent operator in his day and ofcourse just beat Thomas Spinks was considered no1 in the division by many, the only reason he isnt considered great is because how Tyson dominated him. The fact you see Tucker and Bruno as his best wins leaves me scratching my head and I think you'd have trouble finding anyone to agree with you
What a crock of ****. He ducked nobody and convincingly avenged his only 2 losses. Top ten all the way. Wtf he has so many haters I do not know. And as for the klitschko fight, after another round vitali would have had his eyebrow covering over his eye.
The Holyfield 'draw' Tucker ancient at 35? and couldn't finish him, considering he'd never been ko'd to that point and only lost, on points to Tyson? 'Gifted' against Mercer :-( Avoided Ruiz and Byrd???? Holyfield 'over the hill', not slightly past prime? Even though he hadn't lost in 4 years? You agree with some of that **** he wrote Bill? Seriously?
Still 2 years inactive, he was 38 and previous 2 fights lost to Spinks. He beat no-one, B fighter at best. **** beating **** doesn't make a good fighter. Who did Berbick ever beat? He'd already lost to Renaldo Snipes and ST Gordon, who you might ask? Exactly. And appart from an old Holmes who did Spinks beat to be regarded as a great fighter? The reason I gave Tucker and Bruno the thumbs up is because compared to the rest they actually had the tools to give Tyson trouble.
Im not agreeing with the **** he wrote, he did Lewis a massive injustice, he`s probably at the wind up so I never went thru his post.... but I do feel Lennox is overrated on ESB - obviously not to the extent he says tho.
Wow, even for a self confessed Lewis nuthugger #5 is rather fairish. I mean ESB ranked him #4 or 5 in our poll. I agree with Bill, I believe he's overrated on ESB more so than any other HW probably. I'm definitely on the minority. If it means anything I rank neither Holy or Lewis in my top 10. However, both are the next 2 spots outside the top 10...
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Yes, he definitely is. He is light years ahead of Ali and Louis, he had better speed and footwork than Ali, better jab than Holmes, better chin than Chuvalo etc. He is much better than Robinson, Armstrong and Duran P4P as well :rofl (Jokes aside) Dude, are you kidding? Lewis is definitely ATG fighter, nobody will deny this, but NO WAY is he top-2 HW of all time. NO ****ING WAY! Anybody, who ranks Lewis ahead of Ali and Louis loses his credibility forever
I agree. A real ATG is someone like, say, Joe Louis, who KOs a multitude of HOFers, defends against every top contender out there for as long as he's an active champion, makes an unbreakable record number of defenses, and puts up a brave showing every time he loses (which only happened against fellow HOFers). A true ATG the Brown Bomber was.
Correct me if I'm wrong, no other top10 ATG has ever done a U-turn and run during a title match except Lewis.
In the Briggs fight, Lewis was hurt in the first round but instead of clinching he turned his back and ran accross the ring. Dont get me wrong, this is not to put down LL on ATG rankings. He is definitely top15 and arguably top10 but those who rank him ridicilously high should note that LL lacked great fighting heart like Marciano, killer instinct like Tyson, and a chin like Holyfield.
Quote: "He lost to Oliver McCall in two rounds. He lost early Rahman He was gifted against an old Mercer He was almost beat by old Bruno He drew with ancient Holy He couldn't finish an ancient Tucker when he had him in trouble He got lucky against Klitschko. One more round and Vitali would have had him. He avoided John Ruiz and Chris Byrd when they were contenders. His best wins came against over the hill fighters like Holy and Tyson. Lewis might make my top 15.[/quote] Agreed Bruno gave him a lot of trouble but eventually he stepped it up and he beat Bruno convincingly. Strongly disagree about Vitali. As the fight drew on there was only gonna be one winner, Lewis was starting to tag him big style and would have stopped him. He most certainly didn't avoid Byrd or Ruiz, he just had no motivation to fight them as they were not big fights. And they had zero chance of beating him. The only time Lewis lost was when he lacked motivation. He avenged every defeat in the most emphatic fashion. As for only beating over the hill fighters, what about his domination over Razor Ruddock? He was fantastic. Or Briggs? Golota? Morrison? Tua? He was guilty of complacency yes but styles make fights. He's in my top10 ATG.:bbb
Yes he did He did but you know very well there were circumstances which contributed to the defeat, Rahman was there for weeks getting used to the altitude and Lewis wasn't. Nonsense, he won by at least two rounds. You don't score fights by how loud the crowd cheers for the guy they want to win. Really? Looked like he tko'd him to me. He won at least nine rounds, that was one of the most ridiculous decisions in the history of boxing. That's not a big knock against him, everybody knows how tough Tucker was. Complete crap. Klitschko was falling all over the ring in the sixth round and staggered over to his corner where he couldn't even see the doctor asking how many finger he was holding up, Lewis had him. Klitschko's corner were stopping the fight anyway, they put butterfly stitches on his cuts, was he going to fight with those? I don't think so. You mean he didn't take the fights nobody wanted to see? It was Lewis who exposed Grant, the US media were hyping him as the man to dethrone Lewis so Lewis took him on and battered him. Would you have preferred to see him destroy Ruiz in thirty seconds? Are they his best wins or just the most recognisable names? With the Klitschkos at joint number one no doubt
