My assesement of his carrer thus far isnt based on bias as it dosent bother me if he were to have knocked out every fighter ever.......or lost to every boxer he ever faced. Thus we can come to the conclusion that if Hatton were to say carry on his carrer for like another 3 or 4 fighhts and took on fighters like Bradley on current form, or witter his old rival or possibily taking on Cotto etc......I would start to view him as a fighter who is actually going for it as he would be facing fighters on a CONSTANT basis that represented the best fighter that he could have with at that point in his carrer.

He did this a total of 3 times in his carrer.......one he won against Kosta and the other he badly lost.

As ive said before Hatton has done well in fact i think Hatton has accomplished alot but the accomplishements he would have achieve would be far less if boxing was actually bloody organised where we had just 8 weight classes which makes far more sense and one bloody title.

In fact i dont think Hatton would have ever won a title if boxing was geared up like that.

I dont care if weight classes have been around for 50 years........there are to many..........we need a revamp.........we need to re-market the sport.

Mosley, cotto, mayweather, marquez, bradley, khan, margarito, p. williams (althought he can jume several weights big time) hatton, witter, devon, should all be in the same weighht class.

Should we do a 210 pound division along with a 230 pound division?

Maybe Haye could be like a 3 weight champion and a 4 time champion and then he could face Klit, Valuev, ETC

Thought of a really good one........its well unfair that certain fighters are bigger than other soooooooooo what i came up with could really put boxing back on the map and gives us fans a true idea of who is good and who isnt.

With the recent pacman and cotto stuff and Hatton being treated unfairly becuase he fought a couple of times at 147 even though he is a big 140....

    starting from

    126 featherweight
    128 medium featherweight
    130 super featherweight
    133 little lightweight
    135 lightweight
    138 super lightweighjt
    140 light welter
    143 middle welter
    147 welter
    150 junior liight middlweight
    154 light middle
    160 middle
    164 middle middleweight
    168 super middlweight
    172 super super middlweight
    175 light heavyweight
    180 bigger light heavyweight
    185 super bigger light heavweight
192 super super big light heavyweight
    200 cruiser
    210 super cruiser
    220 heavyweight
    230 bigger heavyweight
    240 super heavyweight
    250+ gigantic heavyweight

Yeah then we can have fighters like hatton get a vacnt IBS, HTU world championship belt at 138 and 142........we could really advertise him as the 29th time champ and legend, all time great champion..........and out does henry armstrong!!!!!!!!! who was only a 3 weight champion but not 567th time champion.

Yeah..............im so hoping that Amir follows the footsteps of Hatton and takes on Morales........you know does the perfect matchmaking.......where we can convice everyone that he took a legend ala barrera.......yeah the public will buy that

I disagree with you over the weight divisions, most of the junior ones are warrented. You only have to look how few lightweight champs went on to be welterweight champ or how many former welters did well at middle to see that the jump up in weight was too much for some decent fighters to handle. I'm talking years ago when there was 1 or 2 champs in a divsion, not these days where moving up in weight looks easier than it is because fighters pick and choose who they fight when they move up.

A some of your gripes about Hatton seem to be about boxing generally rather than about Hatton specifically and you don't seem to apply reasonable standards when criticising Hatton.

Very few fighters constantly take on the most difficullt fights, theres always a few 'soft ones' in any title reign, no champs "clear out a division' anymore etc. Lascano aside, Hattons defences at 140 were a solid if unspectacular bunch, certainly nothing that should need apologising for and (arguably Witter aside) theres no gaping "why didn't he fight xxxxx" questions in there.

As I said in another post Hattons career is very easy to sum up and rank with certain limits and anyone saying he's an ATG on one hand or not a decent world champ on the other then you're not assessing his career fairly.

A few of the bollocks lower divisions could be done away with I believe, 3lbs...**** that ****. There is no noticeable difference.

Margarito would beat most of those guys up with ease, and that tells you something because the guy is talentless. 140lbs is neccessary for the majority of fighters, it still requires something special for a 140lb'er to beat the top welters.

I know this thread, its wacky ideas on how to reform boxing and Hattons part in the downfall of the sport should be allowed to die but I couldn't resist posting this link from today.
