No way is Foreman #3. Great puncher and is in my top ten but would lose against every boxer on the list.

You have Foreman losing to Dempsey and Marciano? What about Johnson and Jeffries?

In my book he beats Dempsey, Johnson, Jeffries, Marciano, and Tyson. Liston would be closer than people might think and his odds against Holmes are far greater than people are giving him. And the most thunderous puncher against Lewis' shaky chin is no given for him.

Blah, I like his resume more. Then he's got the KO percentage record, 2nd (or 3rd) longest KO streak and the 49 straight wins.

Holmes has his 90's run. But really, Ray Mercer is tailor made for him. Never understood why people were more impressed with his 90's career than Foreman's.

1952 Marciano never has a chance against a peak Holmes of '80................ Never....... Holmes produces a beating that leads to a TKO by round 9............. Marciano needs blood between rds.........

I damn near considered Holmes and Marciano. Instead I picked Lennox, and made it a three way tie between those guys at 7 each. Interesting.

I wish I could say Foremna, but he just wan't that good agaisnt boxers.

Who says H2H determined who's the greatest heavyweights of all time? Let alone solely H2H. I think Marciano can do much better than you give credit for in an H2H fight. However, past fighters don't get the benefits of more modern fighters. Either way a Holmes vs Marciano fight would not end in a Round 9 stoppage. Marciano last much longer.

Dudes like Ali and Holmes would slice and dice Marciano up so bad he'd need blood by round 7.... The doctor would be in his corner looking very close at him........ Somewhere after the mid-way point in the fight, they'd stop the fight and spare Marciano the agony of getting himself killed......

LoL. Thanks for not responding to anything I've said. You make Marciano said like Chuck Wepner. He's not getting cut and beat before halfway the fight. Marciano likely goes the distance against Ali and loses a decision. He likely gives Holmes trouble with the chance of upsetting him. Why? He tends to brawl too much and was vulnerable to the right hand. If Holmes dead tired tries brawling Marciano like he did in Norton in round 15 then he's going to be carved to pieces and possibly droped/knocked out. Of course, Holmes is a favor to beat Marciano. Greatness is relative to what each does in his time. Leave H2H for an entirely different list.

I dont agree with the premise that Louis and Ali have the top 2 spots tied up for certain.

I think the point is more that if you had a vote for the top 2 hw's they would win overwhelmingly whereas this is more of a contest.

    Holmes,

He is not a boxer I like. His image is too sour and arrogant. But I think he is the only ATG HW not from the golden era (late 60s-early70s) who has a consistent solid chance against the golden era guys: Ali, Foreman, Joe, Kenny, etc., and also against other great boxers like Louis, Sonny, etc.
