So you're saying prime Jones would beat the 10-0 green version of Haye that hadn't learned how to train properly? I'm not sure that was the debate though...

It wasn't. I was referring to this comment specifically-
And the absolute lunacy of that post. Expecting a fighter who dominated a weak division to "absolutely destroy" a prime ATG of Jones' Calibre is :nut, and i addressed that. It doesn't matter how green Haye was when Thompson KO'd him (or what deficiencies you bring to excuse that), at that point and this point any version of Haye, a prime Jones would most likely beat.

    Haye By K.O.
But defo look for Jones Jr. to announce a HW rise should either Arreola or Haye win their upcoming.

Uh, no. And I think Haye is ridiculously overrated.

Jones should try to get that rematch with Hopkins. At least he won't get knocked cold in that one.

    I disagree with you.

Roy Jones Jr at 200lb simply is no match for a much bigger and devastating power punch like David Haye. Jones has always prided himself on having ridiculously fast hands, but even Haye is comparable in this department, and that will see even a elusive target like Roy get hit by right hands. Do I see Roy standing up to many right hands from genuine one punch power? Hell no. I stand by what I said, any version of Roy Jones is knocked out by David Haye. It's not about reputation, it's about styles. Ask another Jones about this, Junior Jones.

Roy Jones was an All-time great 175lb, not at 200lb. :-(

I can't believe how deluded some people are, roy clowns a carcass and all of sudden everything is forgotten and he should take on bernard hopkins or david haye i even heard people suggest the Klits.

i'm glad to see Roy still has his fans but the man is behond shot to **** and as i said clowning a carcass doesn't prove the contrary to that, he should hang them gloves up, no way is he in shape for the top fighters as Light heavy let alone cruiser or even another advanture to heavyweight which is what brought on his demise quicker, this would be suicide..literally. If he's to continue then he should continue to pick fighters like lacy where he's gonna make money, enjoy himself and showboat as only roy jones can and not get hurt.

You cant take him seriously. Pretty sure he's a troll account, he thinks Vlad would beat Tyson, Ali, Louis, Fraizer, Lewis, Holmes, Liston and Marciano.

Most people realize he is past his best, his legs are gone, he has old man reflexes and his handspeed is merely "fast" now.

In his decrepit state, Haye, Hopkins and (god forbid) the Klitschkos would all almost certainly KO him.

Part of me wants to question your reasoning yet part of me realises that no matter how sound my logic is, there is little chance of it changing your opinion. I wont engage in an incredibly pointless online argument with you that people on this site seem so fond of, so i will relay my thoughts here once, if it changes nothing, thats fine with me.

Haye is nowhere near Jones when it comes to handspeed, not even now. A prime jones could throw half a dozen punches in the blink of an eye(as he did against Bryant Brannon), he regularily threw, 10-12 punch combinations from awkward angles and remove himself from danger before an opponent knew what hit them(See - Jones vs Malinga for the perfect example of this).

The fact that you even ask that makes me think you've never seen Roy in his prime. He would never get hit flush with a power shot, but to say he would get hit with even one of Hayes wild clubbing rights like the one KO'd Mormeck(that i assume you're referring to) betrays your uninformed posistion.

Exaclty, its about styles. And Roy has the style that would exploit a wild power puncher with no jab, low hands, and minimal head movement.

To sum it up, Prime Jones would be too much for Haye, too much speed, power, upper body movement, and incredbily foot speed would lead to 2 possible outcomes, easy UD for Jones or late stoppage for Jones. And there really isnt much to work with disputing this until Haye accomplishes something at HW, when that happens(hopefully:good), you can more effectively state his case.

    Good day.

A lb for lb Roy could probably take Haye at CW although Roy was really in his prime at LH.... Currently however, i'd have to say Haye by KO1....

Why would Haye need to 'accomplish something at heavyweight', we are discussing what would happen in a match up at 200lbs, where he has already been linear champion?

Ya'll must have forgot. Roy's hand speed is much greater than Haye. I wonder if most the peope on the board are too young to be around for Roys prime and to see how brilliant he was, the best I have ever seen. Roy beats Haye easy. hell the John Ruiz that Roy beat beats Haye. If haye wasn't from England no one would care about him, he would just be another over hyped American prospect that was TKO'd by an over the hill average fighter at Cruiser.
