Who does Wlad beat against these old time Heavyweights?

Young, quick Ali defeats Wlad. Older, tougher Ali loses a long, boring jabfest to Wlad.

Savage Tyson finds Wlad's chin early and KOs him. 90s Tyson and beyond is brutally TKOd walking into hundreds of jabs.

Lewis destroys Wlad.

P4P Wlad is below all of them. Head to head, there is no way most of the great heavyweights of the past could take on such a monster with such skill.

I admit that I may only give Ali and Tyson a chance for sentimental reasons. Heavyweight just doesn't mean what it used to.

 

You can say that again. Out of all those fighers listed, prime Tyson v WALDO is the easiest to pick for me, it ends early and it ends brutally and WALDO has literally NO CHANCE of winning. He at least has a punchers chance against Lewis, and a (very slim) chance of being competitive with Ali in a jab-fest although I suspect if it got close Ali would take it to the trenches and just knock WALDO out. Tyson is a horrible match-up for WALDO because in his prime you just couldn't keep him on the end of a jab, and he was a great finisher, probably the best finisher ever. WALDO also has no uppercut to speak of, and that was something you definately needed against Tyson.

I never voted in the poll by the way because I favour all those guys against WALDO....I concede on a bad night WALDO could beat a couple of them but I wouldn't bet on it.

 

Just a reminder, many of those rock solid legendary chins of the all time greats were never tested by a 240lb talent who could punch. My guess is that many of them would fail.

I'll reverse the question for the sake of brevity and say Tyson, Lewis and ALi are the only ones I favor over Klitschko and I think WK would still be a live dog against those three, at least with his current experience and skills.

 

He'd be a live dog against Lewis, but not Ali and Tyson - and I rate Lewis as a far greater HW than Tyson.

I wouldn't fancy his chances against Marciano or Frazier either, most people seem to think otherwise but I think WALDO gets taken into deep waters against those guys and drowned - he might be ahead on points when he gets stopped, but he still gets stopped. Prime Foreman would scare the living **** out of him and KO him inside of 6 minutes. Liston would be interesting due to the battle of the jabs I admit, and WALDO could KO Sonny if he connected but the most likely result is Liston by KO.

 

Tyson would be all wrong for Wlad, seeing Tyson would intimidate Wlad before he even got in the ring with him. I know I might get called a hater for this, but I see Tyson taking him out in the first round with the pressure alone. Wlad fights scared, and when Tyson smells fear, the end is near. Unlike a green Sam Peter, Tyson knew how finish off a hurt oppenent.

 

Marciano, Liston, prime Foreman never fought anybody comparable to Klitschko. I think a fight between Marciano and Klitschko would be similar to Corrie Sanders vs Bobby Czyz. Marciano just happend to be around at the weakest time in the heavyweight division. Liston never competed against a large talented man he could very well outjab him. Foreman, even when he was in his prime, looked slow and robotic. People have to remember that there was nobody really comporable to Klitschko on any of those legendary fighters records with the exception of Lennox Lewis. I think the majority of oldtimers are overrated. Back in the golden era of boxing fights between the best light heavyweight and the best heavyweight actually happend, nowadays people don't even consider putting the top LH vs the best heavyweight ( no Ruiz was never the best heavyweight ). Even David Haye is coming up from a weight lower than heavyweight yet even at cruiserweight he'd look like a giant lined up against the opponents of those old time chance. In fact, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Haye beat a large portion of the old timers himself. I just see that kind of speed, agility and power in the execution of his boxing technique.

 

Foreman, Shavers, Marciano, and Liston all punched as hard as Wlad. I think Wlad's power is a bit overrated, considering the competition he's fighting. Wlad post 03 rarely commits to his punches, and I could only recall one time in the last 5 years he was able to knockout his oppenent with one punch, and that was against Brock in 06. Tyson had more one punch knockouts than Wlad, and they both fought there fare share of bums.

 

You're obviously a sack-swinger so I'll just reverse the question - when did WALDO fight anyone comparable to Marciano, Liston or prime Foreman?

Which version of Vlad? The raw version who got knocked out by Ross Purrity? The prime version who got knocked out by Corrie Sanders, or the veteran who fainted against Lamon Brewster?

 

Comparing fighters from different eras is unreal, you can only speculate.

IMO, considering the fighters on their primes, I would give the edge to Wlad over Frazier, Marciano, Liston, and would consider him the clear underdog against Ali, Lennox and Tyson.

Louis and Holmes would be 50-50.

I think Foreman would be very intriguing too. I'd favor Foreman, don't think Wlad would be able to handle that kind of power.

 

I have it something like this.

Wlad would be bigger than all of them - however they are a strong bunch so I would not have Wlad as big favorite against any of them. I think the one he has the highest chance of beating is Liston. Liston used his size and he doesnt have that against Wlad. Next would be Frazier and Marciano because of the huge disadvantages they would have. There did not exist athletic HWs of Wlad's size at the time. The big guys they saw were slow and uncoordinated and would have prepared them badly for Wlad.

The others I would all have as favorites against Wlad.

 

Holmes imo. Maybe Frazier and Tyson too.

 

The only ones I really don't think he could beat are Lewis and Tyson. Vitaly may beat them, but not Wlad.
