Let me start by saying, PBF is in my opinion the most gifted and talented fighter in the sport today. If anyone has All the tools as far as skill goes, it would be him.

Why he lacks respect in my opinion has to do with many of the intangibles. Like heart, ferocity and fighting spirit. The best of all time fought any and everyone of relevance in or around their weight class in order to prove that they were the best. Even DLH, being half fruitcake, fought just about everyone he could during his career. Many fighters LOVE to fight. They have something to prove to themselves as well as the fans who back them up. Whether it be the toughest guy on the block, P4P king, or Greatest of All Time, many true FIGHTERS will stop at nothing to prove their point and wouldn't think twice. Floyd is defnintely smart in a sense that he has probably been touched the least for the amount of rounds he has fought as a pro. Problem is, we aren't concerned with who is the smartest fighter of all time. If we were he might win. It's about greatness, and greatness requires much more than smarts.

Many fans have the luxury of knowing their favorite fighter will do everything in his power to prove all the doubters wrong. Floyd fans do not unfortunatley and it's sad because the PBF fans on here fight for him everyday only to be left with as much uncertainty as the doubters and non-believers. Will he fight Pac Man? Will he fight Cotto? Will he fight Sugar Shane? Will he run through Margarito and shut everyone up now that Margo ain't packing his fists anymore? Will he retire? Will he run? Will he hide? Will he respond by saying "if the money is right?" Will he even get past Marquez?

    Good post.

You should break up your paragraphs in future though, on first viewing it just looks tedious to decipher.

The reason I feel Mayweather is not favored by many is for an assortment of reasons. He talks ****, his style isn't crowd pleasing, and I feel he hasn't given it his best effort to fight the best at Welterweight since his time as a 147lb fighter.

That said, nobody should be disputing the man's ability.

I think the guy got plenty of heart. He even say the most important attribute of a fighter is a sharp mind, a good chin and a big heart. Is just that he is trying hard to protect his o and give him credit that he have still fought the best fighters of his time. Marquez maybe be smaller but not much and still dangerous. Floyd is trying hard not to lose his o is the main thing and he doesn't want to hear the haters when he loses.

I have every bit of faith in Mayweather. Ok he hasn't fought Cotto yet, but Cotto hasn't called out Floyd yet has he? Floyd recently said he would KO both Pac n Cotto, wheres there responses? Floyd Called out mosley twice and got turned down twice, so why should he face Shane now when theres a possibility to face cotto or pac?

Believe me if Mayweather and Pac both win, that fight will happen. If cotto wins, mayweather cotto will happen. Mayweathers gonna be back, better than ever and healed, he aint come back to ***** foot around, hes taken the hardest tune up possible.

I see 2 more fights left in Mayweather, Pac/Cotto,and Mosley, and he wins them both and then after that hes criticised for not facing Margarito, he will never win no matter who he beats.

If he beats Marquez, Pac vs. Cotto Winner and Sugar Shane, I will definitely have a new found respect for him. I think all 3 of those will be his toughest fights yet so I'd give it up to him. Whether I like it or not. Margo is the least relevant cause of the whole cheating thing.

good post! I want to focus on the persona of the man, becuase it is this not his fighting style that makes him so unpopular and underatted by some! lets fac it Sweet Pea was more negative in fighting style than Floyd, he might not have had legions of fans but he wasnt hated like Floyd.

So whay does Floyd portray the image he does. Well firstly it is a smart marketing ploy. There is no room or money in the market for another good guy/Golden boy character; Osacr had that role and it now belongs to Pac. They are the hero's, the good guys and the ones who are meant to be role models. Floyd and his people realise that the main way he becomes a draw is to be the 'bad guy' the 'Cassius Clay', i.e the loudmouth people buy tickets to come and see konocked out! This is why people will turn out in numbers and tune in if Pac and Floyd face each other in the ring!

Secondly it is a psychological ploy that uniquely works for him. He is a guy bullied by his father as a junior, constantly telling him that what he did in the ring or in training wasnt good enough, that he would be huniliated and beaten! Now Floyd broke away from this by going with Roger but it is still a huge part of his psychological make up as a boxer. He is only scared of one thing; LOSING!!! It petrifies him and his self worth, it is like a paranoia which was first put in his mind by Floyd senior.

Therefore he needs that negative energy around him to propel him into a focus on his training and craft that drives him to always excel. He needs people to hate him, for the crowd to be baying for him to lose, and for experts to question him and his legacy. In this way all the Floyd haters, the more aggresive they are in his dislike of him, are actually a key component of his camp! So keep up the good work if you fit this description, Floyd needs you to keep him on top of the world!

There`s threads like this every day mate.... but your new so I`ll let you away with it.

Ps. I do agree with you mostly tho, Mayweather is CLEARLY the most talented fighter in the sport, anyone who tries to debate that aint worth debating with - he should face every top fighter available & stamp his mark as a top 10 ATG fighter, just like Ali & co before him did.

    :good

people get sick of seeing the same person win over and over, its human nature to see what else is out there. When all is said and done, Mayweather is the best and I don't see anyone (including Pacquaio) beating him.

I loved seeing Tyson win time after time. I never wished for him to loose and I liked his invincible aura.

However, Mayweather is just a little dumb ***** who doesn't get that he is really not very clever. He is also boring as **** above 140.

Your comparing 2 totally different fighters from an entertainment value perspective. Of course people love to see brutal knockouts and Tyson was the king when he was in his prime. Mayweather, to the casual fan, is the same repetetive "boring" fight where he wins by jab and running, hes also not that big of a knockout puncher. Now everyone is kissing Pacquaio's ass because he is more exciting than mayweather but from a technical boxers standpoint, Mayweather is FAR superior.

But a response would help set the fight up to enable his fists do the talking.
