http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=6585&more=1 Here is a great article of this site on 12 nominees for the greatest boxer of the 1970's. Its claims that Carlos Monzon (in the authors opinion) was the greatest boxer in this decade. Do you agree with this and what made him so special in this period? I'm interested as my boxing knowladge is for the most part on the 1980's onwards and because I would like to know more about Monzon, as people rate him so highly on here. Thanks
roberto duran has to be included as well with honorable mentions going to: carlos zarate matthew saad muhammad alexis arguello george foreman
On that video that I posted did you catch the fact that Lopez/Torres was an undercard fight? That card also featured Micheal Spinks in his 5th pro fight against 15-2 Ray Elson, and the main event was Palomino/Azevedo in a welterweight title fight. This card was on regular free TV! Now days "Little Red" would be an HBO main event PPV fighter. Back then he defended his title in an undercard fight on free TV! My how things have changed!
