this would be a competitive fight

i think b-hop should fight his adamek/dawson fight and jones should fight green and then the two meet for a simultaneous farewell fight in late 2010

could turn out to be a mega-event

Well Hopkins beat Calzaghe and RJ got dominated by Calzaghe....In those fights It been proved that even though both fighters are past their prime,B-hop has more left then Roy does..U see RJ is FAR from his prime,Bernard is past his prime but hes not far from his prime

If they were to fight in a couple of months i say Hopkins wins a late stoppage or a decision,Im not gonna be blinded from what RJ did to lacy his fellow shot fighter,Lacy got his ass whipped by a bum Manfredo,so of course Roy was going to easily whup Jefff Lacy ass,I think we all saw it coming

That's exactly right, I know score wise Jones was easily ahead, but it wasn't really easy at all.

We have yet to see Bhop on the slide in the ring (aside from a decline in punch output). Bhop has beaten the better opposition in more convincing fashion that RRJ has lately, He did look great against lacy but Lacy is pretty much shot at this point.

    Jones aint beating Hopkins.

Lacy was the perfect guy to make Jones look good, someone immobile that he can use his speed to tee off on.

Look at how many of Calzaghe's shots Hopkins was able to slip. Roy isnt going to throw at hopkins like he did at lacy because Hopkins will slip them and he will get countered.

Roy will be gunshy and running like he has been in his recent bigger fights. Its possible Roy could get a decision if he keeps his distance and holds Hops to low activity but I think that Hopkins will find it easy enough to land on Roy and stop him.

Ass whipping from Peter "I should be a middleweight" Manfredo? That was just an ugly fight, if you want to say someone whipped Lacy's ass, say Epi Mendoza.

If you count slap punches by Calzaghe. Half of the punches Calzaghe threw at Bhop were slaps. I think Bhop would take Calzaghe in a rematch, thats why he doesnt want to give him one.

It would be a Hopkins win now...but I feal up untill the Ruiz fight, Jones would have beaten any version of Hopkins through time. Saying that, I've never been too intrested in watching this one...both men would be playing the waiting game most of the fight and stink the ring up with "stragety".

Also interesting to note is that roys last to fights were kos and hopkins hasnt knocked anyone out since oscar in 2004 so forget about using roys chin as a reason

That is true. And most will point out the level of opposition but the fact is that RJ is not fighting timid like he did a few fights after his KO losses (Tarver 3, Prince, and Hanshaw).

Actually, if you think about it, RJ has had a lot more KDs than Hopkins of late. Again, keeping in mind the level of opposition, he hurt Hanshaw in the 11th with a KD, KD Tito 3 times, stopped Sheika and completely dominated Lacy.

I think the key here for RJ is that he's no longer fighting timid and letting his hands go. He's also not afraid to take a shot.

Also, I'm not sure I subscribe to the idea that Hopkins has been a worldbeater the last five years. He definitely performed impressively against a Pavlik who, for all intents and purposes, could prove to be a a middleweight version of Lacy. But prior to that, he lost to Cal, was unimpressive against an undersized Winky Wright, and lost twice to Taylor. Sure, he was competitive in all of them...but he still lost.

I think an illusion was created that Jones is more shot than he is and Hopkins has more left than he does. In fact, it may be closer than it would seem. That's not to say that Lacy shattered that illusion. In fact, it's just created a secondary illusion that Jones has more left than he does. It's really just a matter of styles making fights. Jones and Hopkins in their current forms can feast on slow one-dimensional opponents (Pavlik, Lacy) and struggle against pressure or high activity fighters (Johnson, Calzaghe). Given that they're not one dimensional, and not high activity fighters, it becomes a genuinely mysterious matchup that would be very difficult to predict.

The first fight was a lot closer then the score cards make it look with some rounds going to RJJ by a hair.
If there's a rematch the fight will again be very close, but this time it will swing to Hopkins by a hair.

B-Hop should still be favored though...
