Roberto Duran Carlos Monzon Eder Jofre Carlos Ortiz Alexis Arguello Luis Rodriguez Jose Napoles Kid Gavilan Ruben Olivares Julio Cesar Chavez Salvador Sanchez and Vicente Saldivar could be placed in there as well if you wanted to take out Chavez and/or Olivares.
He looked the goods, but his opposition was by far the weakest out of any fighter listed. You can't really gauge a fighter's ability against such a mediocre level of opponents, no matter how technically sound he appears. An excellent technician, obviously, but I can't place him in league with the other fighters mentioned because he never definitively proved himself the way they did.
This divison dosent get alot of attention thats why alot of people dont know how good Lopez was, he fought the best in his class winning every time. Go watch some of his fights and look into apponents like Voropin, Tabanas, Villamor and Guardia. But for you to critisiza comp when you got Jofre and Luis Rodriguez and ahead of Chavez, Olivarez, and in place of Sanchez (Chavez and Sanchez 2 of the greatest) I'm not at all surprised.
Sanchez doesnt deserve to be above Chavez no matter which way you slice it.... it would be nothing more than a sympathy vote TBH.

Unfortunately, his class (Straw-weight) is by far the weakest in the sport's history along with Cruiserweight. He dominated all comers, as any top fighter would do against such hapless opposition, but he never proved himself capable of defeating any great or top level fighters the way other greats do. He should've moved up to take on Carbajal or Gonzalez. Vorapin was a decent fighter, far from great or elite level though. Villamor is highly regarded in the Fililipines and holds a win over a young Vorapin, but outside of that wasn't a very distiniguished or skilled fighter. Since you named them, I want you to explain to me the significance of his wins over Tabanas and Guardia, who up until this point have are completely inconsequential fighters to me. Maybe you can tell me something I don't know. Hell, at least try to argue Alvarez, Petelo, Grigsby, etc. Fighters that (while far from elite) actually went on to accomplish something rather than inept boxers that would go on to become footnotes in boxing history. Luis Rodriguez beat far better competition than Chavez or Sanchez. You bringing up his name here just exposes your lack of knowledge and puts you in the "Special" category of posters. The ones who like to speak on subjects they know absolutely nothing about while trying to pass themselves off as experts. Sorry champ, not gonna work on me.
