Just wondering.. I never been really interested in numbers in boxing, nor really for any sport at all, but im kinda curious now. But honestly does anyone know? Like for example how much would Joe Cortez make for a big fight for example, Mayweather - Hatton? How much did Mills Lane make? Im sure he probably made the most money out of all the Refs... But how about someone in a lower teir like I dunno, some Japanese guy judging a fight in Germany? What about judges? How much does someone like Adaline Byrd make? BTW most of these judges are MMA judges too, so money isnt just from boxing. If i had to guess tho, and this is just a guess, id say Joe Cortez made about 20 grand for the Mayweather - Hatton fight, does that sound about right? More? Less? But if it was somthing lower teir, like lets say Bobby Gunn vs. Epfiano Mendoza, id say about 1 or 2 grand or so...? Would that be about right? BTW these fights i used are just examples and the first fights that poped into my head.
well, i heard michael buffer gets a million for everytime he says that phrase, and he has it copyrighted. i guess he deserves it because even leonard say when buffer announces my fights it makes me want to fight. i like to say "let's get ready rumble" before my girlfriend and i get it on but it doesn't much for her.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_does_a_championship_fight_boxing_referee_earn it says 10K wich sounds reasonable but then it says up to 1M, which I assume means million and I just can't see that no way no how. I'd immagine the good ones can pull in a couple thousand a year, I would think they make about as much as baseball umps and NFL refs which is about that much. Adelaide Bird shouldn't get paid to judge a club fight much less a title fight.
Judges and refs don't make much at all. Hell, Harold Lederman still has his day job as a pharmacist up at a Duane Reade in the Upper East Side.
