I too think Marquez would have a better chance at 126. His powers of recovery are awesom,e but Arguello was a precise and deadly finisher. Juan's want to trade when he gets buzzed will be his downfall. Same with Pac in any mooted arguello matchup IMO

Arguello by stoppage. I just put ravioli into a quesadilla. Then I ate the quesadilla.

Thats pretty much why I think its a 50-50 toss up over 12 at 126.

I dont think the Vilomar fight is all that relevant..though not totally irrelevant.

Never said Marquez struggled with MAB but it was a highly competitive fight against an older MAB..take from that what you want, dont really think it matters in these matchups anyway.

Marquez did have a hard time against Casa's corpse but ended it abruptly..which no one really came close to doing prior.

Getting back to my main point..Marquez's form on film at these weights isnt as good as Arguello's overall and I dont think beating Mayweather changes that for me.

At 126 it is definately competitive, but marquez is a counter puncher who is susceptible to be hit with straight punches, and despite his massive heart he has a shaky chin. Arquello KO at 130 and 135

Wow.....to say that a fighter like Marquez who's two fisted combinations are beautiful to watch is lacking in form????:huh

......then to go further and say that beating Mayweather changes nothing?????
.....all I can say to that is that its simply erroneous.

I dont think most boxing fans would agree with you......to say that about a fighter as fundamentally sound as Juan Manuel Marquez is really mind boggling to me.:nut

he says that Marquez doesn't have as good form as Arguello on film......undoubtedly true.

They have different styles......but to say that Marquez does'nt have as good a form as Arguello, I just dont think thats true.
Both are fundamentally sound.....Arguello has more power, but on JMM's side, he has more speed.

Both are terrific, I just dont think form is what seperates the two if you want to make a case for either beating the other, or who's the better of the two for that matter.

Marquez has great form I agree.

arguably Arguello has the greatest punching form of any fighter of alltime.

enough of a difference for you not to flame WhataRock

Stop twisting my words..I never once said he lacked form, I just said Arguello is better...if dont feel that way then fine, Im not going to keep trying to convince you. But I think you will find "most boxing fans" wont agree with you on that.

How does beating Mayweather change the fact he didnt look like a man who could beat Arguello at the weights listed?

Last time I checked the weight their fight is at has not been spoken about in this thread. Thats like saying Pac can beat any flyweight in history because he is such a good fighter now.

Extrapolating form from other weights can be done within reason...But 10 even close to 20 pounds over the some of the weights we are talking about here is unreasonable.

Truth be told I absolutely love watching JMM work and any given day depending on how Im feeling he slips into my top5 favorite fighters.
