Tyson vs Witherspoon prime! Im talking about the Witherspoon that fought Holmes, Page.

I think this would be a real tough fight for Tyson if he did not not get Witherspoon out early, because Witherspoon would not stand there and be a punching bag like Ruddock and Witherspoon can bang himself.

Witherspoon takes Mike Tyson into the later rounds i think he would win, he was a good defensive fighter on the inside and he threw punches in bunches, he had a good chin (Bonecrusher fight aside) and he was tough. Witherspoon also worked the body to on the inside.

Mike Tyson does not knock Witherspoon out early i see Witherspoon taking Mike's heart in a tough fight.

Tyson KO1. Hes folded up against Smith when Smith decided to take it to him, what makes you think he could handle Tysons fury? Boobalicious is fairly overated on this forum, but fits nicely into the top ten of the mid 80's, with the Tubbs, Douglas, Tucker, Page, Bruno's etc.

Because that fight aside he could fight well on the inside and he did have a good chin regardless what happened there.

I can accept your point of view that if Mike lands and takes it to Witherspoon there is a possibility he could take Witherspoon out but what happens if Mike does not KO him ?

I dont think Spoon ever had the kind if style to give Tyson fits. He had an ok jab, a weird overhand right that was effective against tall opponents and he wasnt a super quick mobile fighter. He was also a fairly passive guy. Too much inconsistency against the same fighters Tyson was beating pretty easily to say he would do much more than the rest of them.

There were rumours during the late 80's and early 90's that the only fighter who Tyson's camp had concerns about was Tim Witherspoon, and for stylistic reasons. Had Tyson fought Spoon anytime between 1986-1991, he would not have been the best athlete nor even the most established fighter legacy wise who Tyson had faced. I could however see him giving Tyson fits had he shown up in good form. Witherspoon's defense was better than most of Tyson's opponents, as was his chin. He had a longer wingspan than most of the men around at the time, and fought a rather awkward style that a lot of guys couldn't figure out. He also had guts, as was commented on by a lot of boxing personalities. Tim wasn't afraid to step in the ring with anybody.

So what would happen? hard to say. Given that quite a few of Tim's peers such Tucker, Smith, Green, Ribalta and Biggs took Tyson a number of rounds, I don't think that its out of the question that he might do the same. No, I don't see him winning, but a competitive fight ending in either a late stoppage or decision is not unrealistic.

I like Tyson by KO...When he was on a roll he was in a different class...look at the way he dominated, Thomas,Berbick,Tubbs,Biggs,Holmes,Spinks,Etc....Witherspoon would have had an exit before 8

Tyson wins on an ugly 12 round decision, if Witherspoon is motivated, if not, then Tyson stops him in five to six rounds.

Whats the difference between that and what Holyfield used to do to cover up ? Holyfield was shook up by Bert Cooper and Tyson did not knock him (Holyfield) out.

Witherspoon's chin is no better or worse than Holyfield's and Witherspoon punches harder than Holyfield.

The Spoon that lost in one round was not in shape, mentally or physically, nor was he focused or prepared for Smith's style. He was supposed to waft around with a fattie and it all changed-up at the last minute.
