If you were Hennesy, who would you try to line him up with? (if he beats McDermott.) First off I would not be content by just knocking off and defending the English title) I would move on straight to fringe euro contenders and defend only at the behest of the BBBofC. First up I would pick Steffen Kretschmann (13-1)(12kos) a dangerous German, who just got handed a brutal KO by Bahktov. Next I would try and pick a fight with one of K2s Heavyweights as they are often very well skilled and usually have very good ratings in the EBU, Rudenko or Lazenbik have similar records so one of the two (likely Lazenbik). it'll be early 2010 by now and he should be looking to go for both the Euro and Brit titles, A euro eliminator against the winner of Helenius vs. Dettweiler and then a euro title shot against Sosnowski. so If Fury by August 2010 had this record Nov 2009 W Kretchmann KO4 Jan 2010 W Rudenko KO 8 Mar 2010 W Lazenbik KO 10 Apr 2010 W Tom Dallas KO 6 June 2010 W Williams RTD 9 Aug 2010 W Dettweiler UD Oct 2010 vs. Sosnowski
English against McDermott. Irish next and then hopfully the British against Williams (if he still has it by then). If he passes all of those fights then hopefully get the Commonwealth and win the Lonsdale outright before stepping up to European:good. He's got penty of time. I'd like to see a fight with Sprott as well.
If Tyson was with FW, then yes cos money talks. But he's with Fat Mick.......... so probably not. I hear he's having trouble finding sparring partners, let alone opponents. Does the English title have mandatory defences? If so who do you think would be his first mandatory?
The English title is a way of getting a mandatory position for the British title:good. As for sparring partners, this s why I think Fury should go to the Universum gym in Germany- plenty of HW sparring out there and very underrated coaches.
Fury has some real improving to do in his career yet. So far he has fought only weak competition and didn't have to deal with returning punches in his fights. He never had do defend himself, until he tests himself in that position and suceeds, he should not take the next step. This fight with McDermott is the kind of challenge he can take for now. Let's see how he performs.
Fury needs to start taking some big punchers on to build up his confidence. He turns his head when he thinks he's gonna get punched and when he comes to fight a decent boxer (obviously not from the UK - He wont be fighting Haye soon) he will get punsihed for that
i liked fury initially saw a lot of potential particularly with his offence However i'm increasingly starting to believe he won't go beyond british and euro level and he's of the same disposition and mentality as Cris Nipple. these early stages are crucial in his development if he's to be relevent in his mid and late 20s. he needs everything in place, the right trainer, sparring, environment etc either all that or a come to jesus conversation with Bernard Hopkins.
Tyson Fury has a lot of potential. I think he can become a champion in the future, but give him a few years.
Tysons gone back with his trainer he used t use in the ameuter days (name escapes me) but this has meant he has been getting some good sparring, technique and conditioning work. I think we may see a sharper tyson against mcmuffin Im not sure tysons was progressing too well under Uncle Hughie
Woah hold steady, Kretyschmann's euro class, he's only goin for the English, I'd get him to clean up at Brit level first.
