Your the one that dosent know what the **** his talking about Chavez is right up there with Duran, but I know why someone like you would try to downplay Chavez. Sanchez did what many dont do their entire careers, all while still under the age of 24. Only a fool would put Rodriguez or Jofre who by the way isnt even hispanic ahead of Chavez.

 

Thread says Latino dude..as in someone from Latin America, which includes Brazil and Cuba.

Im not sure if I would put LMR over those guys..but that man is criminally underrated..Its just very sad that people are so ignorant about this guy.

Jofre isn't Hispanic, but he is classified as Latino. Why not Rodriguez? He beat some of the best fighters in the world at both WW and MW and was one of the most capable Welters of all time. Those who've seen the series, or most of it, are in agreement that Rodriguez deserved the majority of those decisions against Griffith. The poster Raging B(_)LL, one of the most reliable and learned historians on this forum, has seen all four and believes Rodriguez clearly won all of them! The fight that is available on Youtube (the third one) shows Rodrigues clearly getting the better of the action, only to have Griffith steal the decision. If that's the way the tide went during their series, I have no reason to doubt B(_)LL's opinions. Back to Rodriguez, aside from his fights with Griffith, he also beat a load of top Welterweight contenders of the era in Curtis Cokes, Joey Giambra, Benny Paret, Gene Armstrong, Virgil Akins, Federico Thompson, Isaac Logart, Chico Vejar, Jose Gonzalez, Yama Bahama, Johnny Gonsalves, Joe Micelli, LC Morgan, etc along with Middleweight contenders Bennie Briscoe, Rubin "Hurricane Carter", George Benton, Holley Mims, Denny Moyer, Tony Mundine, Rocky Rivero, etc.

Those are impressive accomplishments. The man was one of the top WW and MW's of the era in one of the toughest eras for both divisions. He was handily out-boxing the bigger, stronger, younger Nino Benvenuti before being caught with that big left hook. He conclusively proved himself against the best (Cokes being his only foil, which is more than cancelled out by the Griffith fights) in a very tough era, and was one of the most versatile and effective stylists you're likely to have seen, if you've seen any of him at all (which I doubt).

Compare that to Chavez's resume. I dare you. How many really good fighters did Chavez actually face or beat?
