Average...His height in pretty short for the weight but his build is good. The Marga fight showed the difference between him and a "big" welter.
Just cause Cotto is short doesn't make him a small or even average sized welterweight. The guy comes in at fight night 155+ lbs. Thats roughly a ten pound difference. Anyone who has had to cut to make weight will tell you ten pounds is no joke. Cotto is a dam big welterweight, and Clottey should be a fkin middleweight (apparently he comes in at 170 on fight night).
Yeah right clown . . . now he is a welter. You were saying what? PBF and Cotto were junior welters? :nut :nut :nut :yep
Almost every welterweight nowdays comes in to fight at above 155. By your logic we should call all of them big welterweights. It's typical for fighters to weigh way more than their actual weight class limit come fight night.
To me; yes. Cotto is not a tall Welter, but he's extremely thick and muscular for the weight. Likewise; I do not consider Margarito - a guy who was clearly less effective and out of his depth at 154 - an especially big Welter simply because he's long. Size is mass, and Cotto is massive, strong as an ox, for a man 5'7. Joshua Clottey is considered a big solid Welterweight, and Cotto appeared as big or bigger than Clottey, even giving up an inch or two.
