I agree with this consensus that at featherweight Marquez has his best chance. The safe bet at both other weights is on an Arguello stoppage win, one must never ever rule out what Juan Manuel Marquez' will to win can do for him, but this type of intense war would feature great exchanges of the finest hooks and uppercuts and powershots technically, it's hard to see Arguello not getting him out of there via the 'short' route.
Longer, stronger and every bit as technically sound. Arguello 8/10 times at any of the forementioned weights.
Are you saying that a JMM having the technicality and form to beat Mayweather at 144 lbs would'nt equate to assuming that Marquez would have that same type of form at any weight under 144 lbs??? Marquez is a fighter who alot of observers would say is a natural featherweight. He spent nearly his entire career fighting as a featherweight......so one would assume that if he beat Mayweather at 144 lbs, Marquez would have carried that type of form or better at any weight below that.
He's changed his style from patient counter-puncher to a much more aggressive style. Many assume arguello would have the form to beat Floyd at 130; Marquez, probably not.
Marquez is still countering......he's gotten more aggressive because thats been the requirement of him to land bigger fights...... .....but through the MAB, Casa, and Diaz fights, its JMM finishing the exchanges while countering. Jesus........you people are now going to tell me that Marquez may outbox Mayweather, but that outboxing Mayweather in no shape or form would give any of us an inclination that he could outbox Arguello?:huh Please guys, spare me the laughter. Bottom line for me is that both Marquez and Arguello are in the same league as boxers....... Arguello as it stands this very minute, I hold and rank all-time higher than JMM........but if Marquez pulls the upset vs Mayweather......sorry fellaz, but Marquez pulls right alongside the great Arguello as a fighter that can be talked about in the same breath with the true all-time greats of this sport.
styl;es make fights and Marquez does NOT have the style to beat Arguello. I already rank him as high as Arguello in H2H matches; he's a beast.
Well I think if Floyd is even 80% of what he was he will take this quite comfortably..Its hard to envisage how Marquez could do it without just going for broke and becoming super aggressive to take the fight away from Floyd. Basically not fighting to his usual style. Floyd isnt Arguello..totally different fighter, totally different strengths and style. If Marquez took that approach to Arguello....:dead If he schools Floyd with his movement, skills and counter punching then we can talk. But the fighter who went down 4 times against Pac and got rocked and pushed very hard by Juan Diaz would just about never beat Arguello. You cant assume he would take that ability to featherweight unless he goes back there, you can only base it what he showed at said weights.
