1978,I seem to remember. This is the fight, imo, where Duran first left it beyond all doubt that he was one of the greats. Everything great about him was featured here. The raw savagery, his aggression, speed, caginess and sublime boxing ability. De Jesus was still a dangerous fighter too. What do you reckon,Duranimal ?
Why ask Duranimal specifically? Personally, bar the KD, I find his 2nd fight with DeJesus to be as good a performance, when you consider that by the time the third fight came along Duran had already given him THIS beating. I think he looks great in his perfect display of patient aggression against Guts Ishamatsu.
Hey Fleabag:hey I owe you an apology:yep you've proved me wrong & humbled me as i'd had you down for being nothin but a ****in useless box-rec/u-tube/Ring/KO snippit spewing plagerising BIG WET WANK who was just always so desperate too get social acceptence from the rest of the members on ESB who really know there boxing & so it just goes too prove that not everything that comes out of yer dogs arse is ****:smoke I thank you:thumbsup
Thanks:good Seriously though, do you agree that the 2nd DeJesus fight was better than the 3rd? I assume you'll disagree with me just to agree with your pseudonym Stevie G. I assume you believe I am a 'youtube snippet' kinda' guy? Others would disagree, and yes I do kinda' like others giving me info and kudos. Without respect you won't get much back; I would not have learned so much from trying to be afairly nice chap who goes out of his way to be sound. If that makes me a **** and shows I don't know what I'm on about then so be it.
Duran was far more well rounded for the third fight. His style throughout the second fight was what we think of when it comes to him as a fighter. But across the board he was better for the third fight. Far smarter with his attacks, patience, better defense, etc. His ring generalship was at it's peak for the third fight. He got sloppy and ran into a hook that dumped on his ass during the first round of the rematch. Still a superb showing, but it's behind the final fight of the series IMO. Duran was faultless during the third fight. The lethalness in the finish had more venom than the rematch as well for good measure.
Although a patchy fighter, I think the Ishimatsu fight is also amongst Duran's best performances. A true dissection.
I assume you agree then I disagreed with him once and he suddenly came out like he knew who I was and how he'd observed everything I done and how I was phoney. So now I always disagree with him, just to wind him up. Even though I'm as big an admier of Duran as you will find :rofl
nah i dont agree just thought it was hilarious the way he goes i got you wrong then says what he thought you was and meant it as a compliment i love Duran and watch alot of him. I think DeJesus 3 was Durans best performance by looking at it but the DeJesus wasnt as good as the one in the second fight so the fights are about even
Nah I think he was suggesting that's exactly what he thinks of me to be honset. BOLD: That was my point, I agree entirely on that one:good But I also respect Stevie G and Robbi's viewpoints on it.
thats what i thought of it aswell haha, very nice guy is Duranimal. yeh tahts how i see it anyway i do think the Duran that fought Dejeses 3 would have beaten DeJesus 2 (as in Esteban) better than he did when he did it (if that makes sense) but i cant be exactly sure and the perforamcnes actually showed the 2 styles of Duran The swarmer: dejesus 2 Intelligent pressure stalker: Dejesus 3
Duran was more accurate and resourceful with his punches during the third fight. His ability to slip under punches had improved. IMO, he was just far more well seasoned and complete. Not as 'rushy' when coming forward, and his defense was way better IMO. Hence the reason he never walked onto a hook again from Esteban.
