Yeah, but the way he lost... I just don't think he has what it takes. Hope I'm wrong, I'm a big fan of his.

Abner Mares ... I've been said that he was on the rise and even had him as my avatar for some point in time. Recently moved up to super bantamweight - was the madatory challenger for Fernando Montiel ... will soon be mandatory challenger for Juanma Lopez ... he's very fast, very skilled, and poised for success.

That's like saying Mickey Ward isn't Irish or Arreola isn't Mexican. Come on!

there are so many top young mexican/mexican-american prospects i could make up a two page list. i'll just post some of my favorites:

    abner mares 18-0 10 KO's..........i believe a future superstar

saul alvarez 28-0-1 21 KO's.......only 19 years old but fights like a grizzled veteran.

victor ortiz 25-2-1 19 KO's..........he'll be back better than ever. too much talent not to.

hernan marquez 25-0 18 KO's........this little flyweight can bang and is getting better each fight.

miguel angel garcia 16-0 13 KO's....the younger brother of former IBF champion grandpa garcia. definitely a future star.

joksan hernandez 16-1 9 KO's........only loss was to bernabe concepcion almost 3 years ago. tough as nails and getting better.

juan carlos burgos 22-0 15 KO's.......very tall featherweight with great skills and alot of pop. future champion.

antonio de marco 22-1-1 16 KO's....kid has skills, heart and a great will to win. possible future champion.

luis ramos 12-0 7 KO's...................many people probably don't know him but he's a great prospect with a great future. 19 year old fights like a 10 year veteran. great skills and legitimate power.

humberto mauro gutierrez 25-1-1 19 KO's...tall lightweight with alot of promise. still young and needs to improve his overall skills but has the speed and power.

reyes sanchez 15-2-1 10 KO's........very tall lightweight with alot of power. has fought very tough competition already and is getting much better.

mauricio herrera 12-0 6 KO's..........very good skills for this jr. welterweight. has awesome boxing skills and would rather box than go for the ko but does have nice power when he wants to use it.

james de la rosa 19-0 12 KO's........younger brother of middleweight juan de la rosa but only better. this kid only 19 years old but tough as nails.
