I beleive he was more interested in trying to make it as a pro golfer than a pro boxer for most of his career. Which is a shame, I agree with you I think he's very underrated, he had serious power and was suprisingly quick for a fairly big heavyweight. He also had some balls, look at how most people fight Wlad and Vitali now and look at how Sanders goes right after them and takes the fight to them. Once it worked and once it didn't but you've got to give the guy credit for trying. It's a shame he didn't really commit to the sport until the end of his career.
no disrespect but what exactly did brewster achieve other than a win over wlad after wlad collapsed under strange to bizarre circumstances? rahman at least held a belt at two different times and beat some legit contenders at different points. oliver's comp (and wins) are way better than brewsters and given that oliver has been beating at least fringe contenders for 18 years i say he ranks higher than brewster on those grounds alone
rahman ? i dont even DISAGREE with your ATG top 20 POINT dude however, if your stating that Rahman waz the best win over anyone of REPUTE that vlad has thus far fought and beat then i feel that your to ignornant to AGREE or DISAGREE with because you either dont follow boxing and the heavyz very closely or are just here to create a bias THREAD that bringz up all your NEGATIVE POINTz about vlad while not GRANTING any of the POSITIVE POINTz about him with the same WEIGHT and that my friend i would like no part of good day to you
#14-#19 in my book. Some more wins and he'll be in the Top10. He has been dominating for several years and has beaten almost as much contenders as Lennox Lewis -although Lewis' competition was better and that is why I have him as my #3 ATG. (Vitali, due to accomplishments, is barely in my Top30.)
Between the Klits they might have defeated everybody expect for Lewis but individually Wlad reads like this: Lamon Brewster vs. Wladimir Klitschko Brewster TKO 5 Wladimir Klitschko vs. Lamon Brewster II Klitschko RTD 6 Sanders, Brewster & Puritty are all greater head to head.
There's no point in hanging on to the Puritty lost unless you're just grasping for straws. Since that time W.Klitschko has gone on to have victories over far more superior opponents. Effectively he has overcome the loss... let it go. Sanders is a Cinderella Man story of his time, he burned as bright as a star for a second and just as quickly fizzled out of sight. W.Klitschko didn't have the experience to get through that and unfortunately there's currently no worthwhile venue for redemption there. He's somewhere in my top 15-20 but I don't like to even consider it until he finishes his career. As for the HoF, he's a lock as a 2 belt titlist and current Ring HW Champion. I really wish Vitali had never come back so Wlad could have had that rematch with Peter for the 3rd belt.
Also no disrespect but Brewster knocked Golota down 3 times & KO'd him faster than Lewis did. That's quite a feat considering the Foul Pole was coming off two bum decisions vs. Byrd & Ruiz & many could say Andrew was pratically a 2 belt champ. Brewster demolished him. Then there's always the freak win over Wladimir which is still a win, even if something was wrong with Wladimir, Brew did what he had to do. He won the WBO & defended it multiple times in some very fun to watch fights. Rahman? McCall? Not always the most exciting fighters are they? Both get outboxed easily in matches they could or even should win.
My thoughts exactly. Wladimir has impressive wins over many undefeated or once defeated fighters, etc. He beat Byrd twice, completely outclassing him the first time & brutally KOing him the second. He also beat Barrett when Monte was still a solid contender, Franz Botha, Rahman, Ibragimov, Austin, Chagaev, Thompson, Brock, etc.
I agree 100%, even about Vitali but I have VK at around 25 or so myself based on accomplishments & top 10 head to head.
