What is the main reason Floyd chose JMM as his next fight?

Coz he sees JMM as a smaller, older, weaker opponent

Coz he wants a named tuneup opponent

    Coz JMM called him out

    Coz JMM beat PAC

Coz he wants to fight Mexico's numero uno

Coz he wants a tough fight

    Other reason(s), please state...

    VOTE in the poll....

Because Manny trumped Mayweather's best wins. (ODLH & Hatton)
& Mayweather want's to beat the guy who gave Pac his worst showing's.

    Bottomline.
Too bad JMM won't comply to PBF...
    (Was a good plan tho)

I don't want to buy that... Why would Mayweather be insecured about PAC's accomplishment?? ;)

Floyd has nothing to prove to Pacquiao... Floyd is #1 P4P... He's undefeated... He's boxing's cash cow... Floyd don't need to beat the guy who "beat" Manny... Floyd can go directly to Manny...:D

    I think it's a combination of things.

He see's an easy opportunity to beat the P4P #2 and at the same time do something the p4P #1 couldn't do convincingly

Yeah Floyd has many reasons for picking JMM like what he said that JMM called him out, that JMM "beat" PAC, blah, blah, blah...

But in your opinion, what is the MAIN REASON??

Floyd has nothing to prove to Manny, but he has something to prove to boxing fans who feel he needs to fight Manny.

A convincing win over Marquez would be a big statement directed at Pacquiao. Marquez going way up in weight just favors Mayweather, even if he's coming of a layoff. If Floyd beats Marquez, he can us this to justify a larger share of the pie against Manny (if they are to fight in the future) since he feels JMM beat Manny.

Maybe Floyd feels Marquez would be an easy fight at this catchweight, but will try to convince other that it's an extremly dangerous fight coming outta retirment and we should all kiss his ass for doing so.

It's a winnable fight that serves a purpose for him. I think he is bothered that people think Pac is P4P #1 and not him and destroying JMM will give those people a big obstacle to get passed in keeping Pac above him.

Naahh... Floyd really don't need to beat the guy who "beat" the guy... If he wants to prove he's better than Pacquiao then fight Pacquiao directly...

By fighting JMM Floyd gets a lot of criticisms coz JMM is smaller, older and weaker than Floyd... This is a LOSS-LOSS fight for Floyd... If he wins, he's expected to demolish JMM anyway... If he loses, it will be a disaster...

Floyd isn't a big guy himself, he could still make 140 if he wanted, maybe even 135lbs. He's been fighting above those weights for money and to get more belts. JMM and Pac are the same size also, not much smaller than Floyd. But I agree, he shoulda fought Pac or Mosley.

This. Winnable fight + p4p ranking. I don't think Floyd would take on the 135lb champ unless he was ranked this highly and he wouldn't fight a p4p guy he didn't think he had a significant advantage over (certainly not coming off a layoff). You can't separate the two.

The Pac history JMM has is more of a happy bonus. It's still significant, but if JMM was a consensus P4P top 3 without it, I think the fight still gets made.
